Think I should dispute this? LOL!

    Hey all,

Checking over my Experian CR today, I found the following information about an AMEX chargeoff. Pay particular attention to the dates:

Status: Account charged off. $4,842 written off. $4,842 past due as of 5-2000.

    Date Opened: 06/2000
    Reported Since: 05/2000
    Date of Status: 05/2000
    Last Reported: 05/2000
Recent Balance: $4,842 as of 05/2000

Wow - these guys must be really good since they reported in May of 2000 what my balance would be in June for an account that *apparently* didn't even exist yet!

I do have a question in this - should I bother disputing, or would AMEX just update and (most likely) end up screwing up the date of last activity?

    I can top that!

    Date Opened:
    03/2000

    Reported Since:
    06/1998
    Account History:
    60 days as of 10-2002, 10-1999
    30 days as of 5-2002 to 9-2002, 12-2000, 2-2000, 11-1999, 9-1999, 6-1999, 5-1999

Seems I was late on 6 occasions before I opened the account (open date is correct)

I will save Cinderella a post

    I hate Evil Experian

Did you dispute? If so, anything come of it?

Actually, they received the green card 1/27, and it has never been blue shaded. This is a GMAC account. I am having trouble with them reporting another one as defaulted despite GMAC's UDF. I've gone straight to GMAC now as well, telling them they need to get it fixed with them once and for all, and if they can't get Experian to "interpret their data" correctly, they need to delete those accounts.

Did EXP ignore your request? I've found that EXP likes to ignore requests that are the slighest bit complex by claiming they didn't understand what the dispute was. If the entry isn't highlighted in blue by now, you probably got tossed in the round file.

Last December, I disputed a Household account for the following: "illegal reaging of the account, incorrect reporting of the chargeoff date, incorrect status dates & notations, and incorrect late payment notations."

EXP sent me a letter that essentially said "HUH?" and refused to dispute it as I requested. I called and had them update my dispute to "never late" and the account disappeared 30 days later - lol.

Jlynn, Iâ??m sorry to barge in on the thread thatâ??s not mine, but I wanted to clarify something based on you post above.

Iâ??m with Lexington, and have one neg left on my EXP and TU reports each. I also have a subscription to EXPâ??s CreditExpert.

Lexington informed me they had disputed this last remaining neg on Jan. 31. It is not shaded blue on CreditExpert. To the best of your knowledge, does EXP always shade items in dispute? Because if they do, I would be prone to thinking that Lexington is trying to stretch my monthly fee by actually disputing later than they tell me.

These threads don't belong to anybody - barge away!

EXP has always been in blue for each and every one of my disputes. The only time a submitted dispute wasn't in blue was the case I highlighted above where EXP refused to dispute until I called up and simplified my request.
