Online bank account applications typically contain a paragraph saying:

"I certify, under penalty of perjury, that I'm not subject to backup withholding..."

Why don't this board registration and access screens show something along the lines of:

"I certify, under penalty of perjury, that I'm not an employee, officer, contractor, or otherwise affiliated with any CRA"

LKH, you can take whatever it is you said on the chat, and put it on your TU report as a 100-word consumer statement. Surely, posting statements here about TU, statements which are already a matter of record with TU, is allowed :)

Well I think there is some concern on the part of TU (or at least this one person), but really, threatening legal action for posting on a message board?? get serious.

I have heard of lawsuits for specific websites targeting large corporations, but for a message board??? LOL. That is silly. This is a conversation, the first amendment applies here.

Now if I put up a website and call it transunionsucks.com and promote it and invite others to participate, I believe they can sue. But not for a message board posting. He should have consulted the legal department before he wrote that letter.

Not only that, but what a lack of "class" admitting fear of messageboard posters by threatening like that. Go take a peak at shitibank.com - does anyone think that Citibank doesn't know about that site?? Of course they do. Are they threatening their employees for posting their opinions there?? I doubt it. That's class. That's confidence.

Hahaha you do it, Kel. Better to use E-pinions. Can't get sued for that, LOL.

I am honestly surprised an employee of any credit reporting bureau would actually put that in writing. Wow. dumb.

I'd think that it's career suicide... This letter puts TU in some real liability... and it really could put TU on the spot for deliberately singling out an individual for retribution. GOD... a supposedly unbiased information source out gunning for a consumer... what's next??????? If I were on a jury hearing this case I'd hand the consumer TU's net worth for a year.

I'd send TU's legal dept a letter, with a copy of TU's letter enclosed... asking TU about this laughable intimidation tactic.

Oh, and I really would send the president of TU a letter with a copy of this letter asking about this retaliation... just posing a few questions... like: if we move this issue to federal court...and go to a jury trial... how bad will this look for TU that it's out to get consumers and clearly isn't objective in its data collection...

Hmmmm. First ammendment... freedom of speech... again, federal territory here.

I'm a bit speechless here that TU did this. Of the 3, they've been more professional... then Equifax... then Experian.

Experian doesn't even disclose all the tradeline info to the consumer... so you can have derogs and NEVER even know it... but your creditors certainly see
    their erroneous negative information... ugh.

This makes me want to withdraw from the credit industry altogether... pay cash... never pay interest... never order or need a credit report again... boycott the whole thing.

    LKH,

That sounds like a threat to me. If I were you, I'd make a beeline to my attorney. If I didn't have one, I would sure as hell get one QUICK!

tu needs to start doing their jobs, EXP and EFX are light years ahead of them in technology. They web site is piss poor.. Perhaps we should get some media to cover what they are doing.. Cause they certainly are violating the FCRA with the shenanigans they are playing. I'm documenting some evidence now, and this company is most certainly playing games..

Maybe a nice class-action lawsuit with some good press coverage is what they need to get their butts in-line, like the other two bureaus are doing..

Who's panicking? LOL. I think it's hilarious. changing my nick to "notbreeze" - ROFLOL.

I imagine the TU letter-writer will be the one with the panic. I bet that individual never expected to see that letter posted on this board. Can you imagine logging on and discovering that it was plastered up here with everyone making comments?

Last time I checked, speech was still free in this great country. It ain't a perfect place, but you can state your opinion anytime, anywhere, whatever it is, right, wrong, or indifferent.

Put it on your company's letterhead, though, and mail it out, and you may get in trouble, hehe.

Is there any way you can scan it and put it on a web site so we can all take a look at it? Then it would be even funnier.. haha

I hope they watch every DAMN thing I post on this board, because they really can't do anything about it. We are all entitled to the right of free speech and opinion, and they just seem to be threatened that practically everyone here is dissatisfied with their SUBPAR service, as well as a lack of dedication to the consumer. If they want to take up some beef with me, I welcome them to do so. I'll be posting whatever I want in regards to TransUnion, and if they threaten me like that, I'll be talking with a lawyer, because they can't base how they treat you based on your opinion. Afterall, the result of their useless actions brought about the opinion people have on them!
