Listen to this guys..... I have posted several times about how Gulf State/OSI have had several duplicates on my husband's credit report etc. So, as usual, I have disputed those things on EQ and guess what I received in the mail. Guess!!! They sent me a copy of a lawsuit against Gulf State! Claudette N. Catlett vs Gulf State with a notice of pendency of class action and settlement. It lists the phone numbers and names of the attorneys for plaintiff and defendant. I don't know if this means that since my husband is disputing information furnished by them that we are automatically part of the lawsuit or what. Has anyone else received anything like this? If you guys want a copy, I can fax it to you but unfortunately, I don't have a scanner. Weird!!!
SUPER WEIRD! But still, that should be reason enough for the CRA to delete the duplicated. Pretty much by them sending that info to you, they must be on the consumers' side on this one? (Ok, I might be reading too much into it, but oh well).
I can't verify whether or not they have deleted the info because they won't let me get the credit report. They needed to verify the name and SS# and so I faxed it to them last friday and still cannot purchase online. I wonder how long it takes. So as I read it over and over, it says that all individuals with Illinois addresses who were sent collection notices on or after 02/23/00. And it looks like it has been settled already. Teh plaintiff got 1.5K plus attorney's fees as class representative and everyone else gets $25 credit to accounts with balances of that and more or $10 cash for paid off accounts or balances less that $25. Yah... lol This is some good info to help with other cases against them, IMO.
This is the problem I am having with Gulf/OSI , Equifax has 4 listings under various names Gulf LLC, Gulg LLP, whatever... all for one 500 c/o. ALl came back verified, trying to think of the next step. Ill be going after the CAs soon I suppose.
I had a similar problem, but only 2 listings, not 4. I sent OSI and Gulf State a validation request. I called Equifax when I saw the 2 listings and told the rep that this was the same company (if they don't believe you have them look at the address and the phone number for each - they should be the same) and dispute them as duplicate. Tak nicely and slowly. I called today and the OSI listing was gone.
