Ok, I just checked the status of my investigations with Experian. I had several going. Mostly, I had paid off 15,000 worth of debt between my wife and I. I disputed the balances on the credit cards about 10 days after I paid them. They all came back as unchanged. How the hell can this be? First of all, I think that it is BS that they can't do a conf call with creditor to get the current balance, and then if they are not going to get it right themselves, how the hell can I win. The only thing that is pending investigation now is a balance on a AU card and a judgement that I disputed as not mine. What is the use of paying down the debt, if they can't get this crap right? I need my scores to be higher because they may be considered in a car loan or mortgage this month and I can't have all that fake debt showing. Any advice?

Experian is all screwed up. Most of my accounts have not been updated since August and September of 2001. I have tried disputing, and contacting the CCC, they all say they are reporting correctly. It is Experian. There are a lot of us with this same situation. EXP is asking to be sued, IMO.

I completely agree. Geez, citibank has now manually reported my acct to Experian 2 times and it still isn't reporting - at all since January.

As far as updating your accts., I would suggest you either have your ccc's call in the updates to the cra's or when you get your new statements, fax a copy to Experian.

I am going to call them on Monday and try to straighten this out. Maybe threaten them a little. Also I am going to ask how they verified this info. Because all of the things that I disputed now have different balances. I don't understand how none of them came back changed. And also how they all came back on the same day as this. Don't you think that they would trickle in one at a time if you have 5 disputes going on. And they would not all be updated all at once. I wish I had somone's neck to grab!!!!!!!!

Are the CCCs able to call in the correct info. Will the CRA update that way?

All the ccc's have a # to the business offices of the cra's. If they can't call it in, then they can at least fax a UDF in.

Are these accts open? If so, why would you dispute the amounts when they should be updating within a few weeks?

These accounts are open. I called these in because for the most part they had not updated in a couple of months. And some had updated on EQF but not on EXP. I couldn't understand that. And I really need them to be updated within the next couple of weeks. I will call the ccc and have them fax or call this CRA. Has anyone actually made that request before? And did they have any trouble?

IF YOUR GOING FOR A MORTGAGE...get your newest statement to the MORTGAGE COMPANY...they can confirm the current balance if they really need to by calling the customer 800 line...

I am also going for an auto loan. It is also the principle of the matter. That they were blantant in lying that they verified the info.

You can't win a game that is stacked against you.
This is why credit and scores are rigged so that they can milk you on this.

Sue the ccc for reporting to a cra who is willfully violating the law

I am having the same experience as many of you here. Equifax seems close enough to posting the correct balances and such. Experian and Trans Union are way off with their balances. I owe about $6000 less in CC debt than most are reporting. Using Equifax score simulator shows that my credit score would be 20 - 30 pts higher. I know that would get me a better interest rate as I would be above 680 on all reports.

    Dear Seudan,

I know you just signed up but I hate to tell you this.

Things VERY rarely happen fast in the world of Credit Enhancement.

Patience is what we've ALL had to learn.

I had Citi and Amex update the current credit limit and balance on my CC's after paying in full. I got them to do this via PFB.

I also spoke with a CRA rep who said they will accept "zero balance letters" which all CC companys will fax to you in hours after your request. I was told if I called in and faxed the letters they would update right then.

I gained an ave of 30 points per report by doing this.(FICO 761 to 802) Be forewarned that at your next automatic balance update from your CC to the CRA, if your balances increase even slightly(from the paid down amount), this will be counted against you Your score WILL go down(FICO 802 to 767). But if you just need a one month bump in scores it will work

It is my guess that the FICO scoring system likes to see a pattern of declining balances any increases in the total amount due costs you dearly.

Experian changed a "pays as agreed" to late 60 days, past due $359.....1/2002; and this was on JULY 1, 2002!!!!!!!
I challenged... I stated (1) payment is $359 so "past due" would indicat 30, NOT 60 days. (2) This is JULY, you cannot legally report that I am currently past due as I AM NOT. This data is completely inaccurate!!!

    Next day..... pays as agreed.

I have figured out that the more specific you are with Experian, the more likely they are to change your information.

Tomorrow I will have the letters faxed to me that I need from the cccs. We did have some letters mailed from them already, just as a precaution after we paid everything off. DMB and Havertys did it right, but Citi screwed up and did not send the right type of letter. And they are the main culprits. They have not updated since about a year ago. I just hate it that when companies want something from you, they want it right now. And by God, it better be correct. If later this week you see some people with some new *******s, it was because of me. I am going to rip some new ones tomorrow.
