Had great success deleting those"baddies" based on the great advise on this board. I have two stubborn 'Paid" federal tax liens which I can't seem to get deleted.

Anyone out there willing offer some tips? Just 3 "baddies" away from perfect credit!

    Thanks.

How long since the tax liens were paid? Are your old addresses off your report. Tax liens are tough.

My parents have tax liens that I would like to help them get rid of.

Fortunately, or unfortunately, they have moved about six times since the liens were filed.

Can anybody give me plan for removal?

    Thank you!

Hmm, I'm surprised your having difficulty. Those were actually one of the easiest ones for me to get rid of. I just did the "not mine" and poof 30 days later no response and gone.

I wish I could be more help.

    Good luck!

    Were they Federal Tax Liens?

I would be concerned about bringing attention to my self since the IRS would be contacted. (Speaking for myself.)

    No, not Federal, State.

I've been audited before, so hopefully they've passed onto someone else.)

The bureau isn't going to contact the IRS. Why would they? The IRS isn't reporting the tax lien.

The tax lien is being reported from information located at the court where the lien was filed.

If you dispute it as not being yours, the bureau isn't going to call the IRS to verify. If they do anything, they'd check with the court where the lien was filed. The IRS wouldn't know about it at all.

Interesting, but wouldn't the court check with the IRS to verify the lien was filed correctl?

If they wouldn't, I would think there is a very good chance whoever gets the diispute (Courthouse, Court, File Clerk, etc.) would bother verifying to the CB.

No, it is assumed it is filed correctly until it is contested.

jlynn, if you'll bear with me I may finally get it through my thick scull.

I contest it at the CB. (It's not mine) So they sent it to someone (Courthouse, Judge?) Now what happens. Some one has to verify it is mine to the CB within 30 days, or it is taken off. My question is who verifiers that it is mine? Also what's the chance someone will verify it?

    ....wading thru the crawfish.....

They send it to the courthouse. Yep, Bayou at xxx address has a judgment on file, or Bayou with SS#xxxx has a judgment on file. Courthouse says to CRA yep, Bayou owes it.

Other alternative - CRA sends it to a company that lives to verify public records. Their flunkee trots down to the courthouse, matches up your info, same thing.

    Tax liens are verified alot.

It was mentioned up above, but bears repeating....DEFINITELY attempt to get old address info off your files, too....can help make a clear cut verification just enough tougher that a verifier chooses not to take the time.....but if you've made it easy by matching up an addr on your file with the addr on the public record....

    Good Luck!
