To those that have gotten Blue 7.99 fixed (as a new acct rate, not lowering of rate on existing acct.):

What were you scores on the bureau Amex pulled prior to approval?

    Thanks!

Thanks, Platinum! Was that an Equifax score/report that they pulled?

They pulled Experian for me in FL. And that's the real score from myfico.com. I checked the score before I applied.

Regarding the interest rate I believe that AmEx will give you the best rate only if you already have an account with them and of course if your credit is OK. At the time I applied for Blue I had Cash Rebate (green) open and in good standing with $0 balance.

On the other hand my wife's score was higher than mine but she applied for an AmEx account for the first time and got approved for Blue at 12.99 originally. They reduced it after six months to 8.99.

I have never taken advantage of AMEX offers, and have a pre-approved offer right now at 6.99. I haven't checked my FICO score lately, but have been receiving quite a few offers so it must be pretty good.

Thanks again, Platinum. If I could be sure they would pull Experian (I am in NC) I would apply right now since that report is perfect with a score of 742 (real FICO).

However, just to play it safe I will wait until after 10/1 to apply since my EQ and TU files still have my Chap 13 on file until 10/1 (only remaining neg) just in case Amex doesn't pull EXPN.

I have Gold card in excellent standing with Amex since 1995 so I should be in great shape in that regard if they are looking for an existing relationship.

The 6.99 fixed is unreal. Haven't seen that anywhere else yet!

    NiceGuy,

you better be waiting until your Equifax is clean...it looks like they are pulling EQ only in NC...

    good luck !!!

I'm in a quandary about applying...I just transferred a pretty good chunk from my son to help him buy a house, and I'm afraid that may cause some problems since that put me at 40% utilization. I have some really good rates on all my cards (except darned CITI jacking me) and hope that doesn't cause my rates to go up on other cards....afraid another application may tip the scales.

    Platinum,

Yep I plan on waiting to apply for Blue until the other two are clean on October 1. The scores are 720+ at EQ and TU now even with the filing still on there but I know it would be an auto-denial and wasted inquiry!

Will let you know after 10/1 what happens!
