What is your interest rate on the Plat. Select card (not the rewards card). My hubby is at 12.74% (prime plus 7.99)... we emailed to ask for rate reduction and they offered prime (4.75%) plus 7.90, making it 12.65% variable. Is it just me or does that kinda suck? Or is that as good as it gets?? I guess I was dreaming when I thought maybe they'd cruise on down to 9.9%???

    Thoughts?

I have 0.00% till 11/13/2002 with a "GO-TO" 12.99%...(I WILL WORRY ABOUT THE 12.99% LATER IN THE YEAR...I'M NOT GOING TO BUY ANYTHING WITH A 0.00% RATE TILL IT'S PAID IN FULL).

THESE RATES ARE AVAILABLE...(you can say "none of my other cards are over 9.99%")
    PRIME + 2.90%
    PRIME + 1.90%
    PRIME + 0.90%

    HELLLLOOOOO ?!

Call Citi "R" dept to negotiate your APR.

Repeat after a couple of months. Many here were able to get rates much lower than 9.9%.

Each credit card account you have with them has a score attached to it.

If you don't use your account much, make min payments, or have a high balance you will go on the slow boat as far as getting what you want.

On the other hand if you move a large amount of cash through the account, and pay in full (thousands, for instance), it will accelerate your potential..

    I have two accounts one.

One is 2 years old, average payment of over $1000/per month (peak $3000-4000/month payment) its prime+0.9%

One is 2 months old, never used, 12.79% Variable and no BT offer for now.

They flat out said they treat each account separately and doesn't matter if you have a good rate on one account, you're new cards performance is on its own.

Kinda odd, imo. but what the heck.

Hubby's citi 2.9 from June until March 3rd (2600) ..... paid off remaining balance (2,150) in January via a Juniper transfer another 2.9% for 6 months

Wrote CITI via their web site to inquire about a new BT offer .. best they could offer was 7.9 for 6months.. no thanks..

Wrote to CITI again about a month later using planetfeedback.com.. got 3.9 until paid, we transfered 5K from another account it hasn't gone through yet.. anyday.

My citi account.. taken in December.. 0% for 9 months.. smaller credit line than hubby's.. but that's okay... when paid off. I'll request a new deal. Hoping for a 3.9% for me.

I have paid the bill on-line as soon as it is available (statement closed)...

I ALWAYS PAY MORE THAN DUE.

The least I do is make the balance some-what even...

Minimum payment $115.74 owe $3,857.91...I will pay $257.91 or $357.91

I had the card about 3 months, charging $200-400 a month, paying in full each time. They took my rate down to P+2.9% (regular CS, not 'R').

Since then I have hardly used the card (less than $50 a month), and when I hit the 7 month mark yesterday they refused to make the APR any lower. Can't say I blame them, its still pretty good, and the rep I spoke with was fully aware of this.

uh.. why would you be worried about the rate .. if you are paying off monthly ?

If you chose to, or HAVE to pay interest...the LOWEST is BEST...

Once you are paying interest...it is harder to get them to lower it...

If you can get PRIME+0.9% why take PRIME+2.9% ???

Probably the most important thing I learned thorugh this board is this:

The best (or only?) time to get credit is when you don't need it. It is easier getting a lower rate when you have a low balance (preferably with high payments) on that particular card. If I ever am in need of credit, its at my fingertips.

Anyway, I have lower teaser rates from other cards at the moment (0-3.9%).

I owed FIRST USA almost $15,000 at something like 10-12%...I asked for the rate to be lowered...they KINDA' chuckled and said "YOU HAVE THE LOWEST WE HAVE RIGHT NOW"...one month later I got a BT from another bank @ 2.90% and paid FIRST USA in full...one or two weeks later they sent a letter asking if something was WRONG (because I paid it off)...and offered me 3.9% for 6 months...
