Allen, For what it's worth, there were two factors that made a big difference for us and they were not related to derogs. First was making sure that no individual revolving tradeline (no matter how small) showed over 50% utilization. If you have a Cap1, make sure the balance is less than half of what it SHOWS as your high credit, regardless of what your limit actually is. EQ, more than any of the other CRAs took the individual utilizations into account. Second was having no more than 5 revolving tradelines with any balance at all. We got a big bump when Sears went from $9 reporting to 0 reporting. (We have an automatic payment that comes out of that account, now we pay it before the statement comes out so the balance is always 0.) And with all that being said, each CRA has multiple score models. All I can speak to is the one we happened to fall into, but it did hold true for both of our reports. DemPooches
Sadly... I currently have 40 accts on my credit report. Almost 32 of them are closed or paid. The other 8 are high usage... Thanks, I will try to see what I can do.. thing that sucks is I am about to do a big BT to avoid paying 24.99% on my amex card anymore.
I have the opposite problem my scores are erratic my score was 675 at the beggining of the month, it then shot up to 720 mid-month now it has plummited to 659.
I first payed off about $4000 in credit card debt that brought my score up to 720. Then a few new accounts I opened last month started posting to my credit report, but they only carry about $1500 in balances. So I really cant see why my score is lower now then it was 1 month ago?
