Ok, the cable company has reported to a collection agency. Problem is, I'm disputing the bill with the cable company. I asked them several times to cancel my account as I had installed directv...they never cancelled the account and I received a bill from them. I told them that I shouldn't have to pay for cable that I had requested to be cancelled. The bill is $131.00, should I just pay it. How soon before the collection be reported on my reports...I just received notification today. And oh, who should I pay..the cable company or the collection agency? Thanks

Did you send them a certified return recite requested letter when you wanted your cable stooped?

Cable companies are slime. Another time we should have a pole as to who to hate more, the cable company or the phone company. My vote is the phone company but it's close.

Have them PROVE you did not cancel the cable on XX/XX/XX date at about XX:XX time.

No, I didn't send them anything by mail requesting the cancellation. I talked to them on the phone. What should I do about the collection letter in the meantime? I don't want this reported to the CRA's

Ok, how do I do that? Write them a validation letter? In the meantime, how should I handle the ca? I don't want them reporting to the cra. Will they automatically report after the 30 days (the 30 days they mention in the letter). What should I say in my reply to the collection company?

    Thanks

"PLEASE PROVIDE DOCUMENTATION PROVING THAT I DID NOT CANCEL ON XX/XX/XX DATE AT ABOUT XX:XX"

SEND TO BOTH THE OC AND THE CA...

Thanks..should I keep it that short and simple? I called the cable company today, she stated that a supervisor would return my call.

I would do a validation on the collection agency letter using the letters here. I would also do a BBB report and PlanetFeedback on the cable company. I would call the cable company, keeping careful records of who I talk to and keep asking for supervisor's until I get to one who fixes it. That would be a good place to start!

Do you have one of those TV channels in the area that does a "help" or "consumer" segment. We have one and they help with problems like this FAST!
