Spoke with CA on 5-20-03 re: validation letter for debt being reported by VA. CA ackowledged receipt of letter on 5-20-03 and would notify VA and forward validation request. How long after you know for a fact they received validation, should account be showing in dispute on CR?

Little bit of background info. Didn't even know these people existed until recent pull of DH CR showing the VA, the VA referred us to Dept of treasury, who then referred is to this CA. I was trying to nail down who to send validation to. Kept CA on phone, faxed validation over and made sure rep had it in hand, documented, let her know I was documenting, time name ID#, etc . This CA isn't even reporting yet, and I wanted to make sure they didn't. I just want to know how long do they have to contact OC (VA) and update CR to show in dispute THX

VA= Veterans Administration. DH is in school since 2000 (entitled to educational benefits) VA didn't pay any $ in 2000 or 2001 ( they say they couldn't verify his eligibility w/ the military, DHs been in since 1987) finally started to pay in middle of 2002. Now they say they overpaid him. When they did pay they were paying a school in Florida,DH w/ a unit in Florida,but all correspondence going to old address in NJ, DUH. They saw nothing wrong w/ that. VA originally said debt was $464 in 7-02, DH called and demanded a breakdown showing how they figured that and change the address. Nothing until 2-03, brief letter stating "debt reduced to $166"(mailed to FL). Called VA , they say they can't help it's the dept of treasury, dept treasury says not us , we sent it to a CA, call CA and send validation letter. Everybody sending everything to NJ, no record of a FL address, DUH, we haven't lived there in 3 yrs. CA confirms receipt of validation, now how long do I give them to notify VA and update CR to state in dispute. I know they have 30 days to validate.
Never mind, new battle brewing. IRS was holding 2002 refund hostage, now I know why. Just got letter today that refund was released , but reduced. VA went ahead and took out $179 to pay this supposed debt. Now we are going to have to fight them to get money back, because they NEVER OVERPAID and DH didn't owe them $. Apparently they have him as being a half time student in 2002 when he was carrying 12 credits. If that's considered half time what do they consider full time ? Oh, well, thx anyway.
