Most credit card online payment timiings favor folks in the eastern time zone, and possibly discriminate against folks in the Mountin, Paific, Alaska or Hawaian time zones.
From one of mt credit card outfits:
If you make a payment on Monday BEFORE 4 pm Eastern Time on a Monday, the earliest day that payment is applied is Tuesday - and the earliest day this payment can be viewed online is Wednesday.
The same timing garbage also applies to all the other days.

4 pm in the east is 3 in the mountain zone, 1 in the Paific zone, and who knows what time it is in Alaska or Hawaii.

WTF is so magical about 4 pm Eastern time??
Shouldn't payment deadlines become midnight Eastern time?

Wonder how many billions in late fees these outfits rob from folks in the other time zones.

And the ultimate extortion are the fees for rush payments.

As long as they tell you the payment deadlines, it can be whatever they set. It's probably eastern time because that's where their main office is (probably in Delaware).

It's the same thing with mailed payments. They have to be received by a certain time to be posted that day--normally I've seen either 11 AM or 2 PM.

And it depends on the bank. One of them (I forget, might be BoA) used to say 11:59 PM Mountain time (they were in Phoenix).

The important thing is to know what your CC rules are and follow them. If remembering or getting it done by 4PM is a problem, then make yourself a reminder for the previous day, and just pretend that it's due a day early.
