I have 9 open accounts now - soon to be 10. I know that the optimal number of accounts has been debated here quite a bit. I saw that you mentioned you have 18 accounts. Forgetting the effect of accounts on FICO, what advantages do you see in having 18 accounts?

This question is sincere not smart alecy. I believe I read that the average American family has 14 accounts which seems like a lot to me. On the other hand, I am rebuilding credit and I like to use all of my accounts regularly. Maybe for some consumers 18 accounts is a benefit.

    Thanks.
