I've been cleaning up and getting good results. About two years ago I filed a BK and kept some cards w/small balances. There were a few cards that I wrote off and those are now the only derogs I have on my credit - aside from the tax liens I'm struggling to get removed or at least marked released. I was never late on these, some had a zero balance, but they show as 3 negatives because of the BK. I've thought about attempting to validate, but since they are the OC and fairly recent, I don't think it'll go well (Chase and Citi), and it might make it harder to get credit w/them in the near future. The other one is Cap1, which dates back to 94 and is my oldest credit card at this point. I'm thinking it really doesn't pay to get that one taken off, because everything else will seem much shorter. Again, no lates, no CAs involved, just a straight BK that was done for tax purposes. Am I wasting time/energy, are these not as bad as I think they are? And against the BK and the liens (mostly now marked as released, some deleted), does it just not matter? All opinions are appreciated.
