I just saw your post to Marie on another older thread regarding Target. I was pleased to see your comments that...

Target reports the credit limit to all 3 CRA's. Not the high balance like Cap One.

You mentioned that increases of $100 occur every 3 months. I hope I understood this correctly.

My $500 account was opened April 1. Therefore, I am now in the 3rd billing cycle. Do I need to contact Target in July and ask for a credit increase or do they do this automatically? Also, does Target do a hard inquiry if I ask for an increase?

    Any advice would be appreciated.

    Thanks - Jim

Obviously, I'm not Dogman, but this is my experience with Target. I've only gotten one automatic increase. That was three to four months after I opened my account. Since then I have requested the increases via their automated phone service. I call every four billing cycles (e.g. receive increase, wait until I have received and paid four statements, call again). My experience has been that Target ups my limit in increments of $100 each time via their automated system.

    Thanks Curiouser,

Do you know if Target does a hard inquiry on your credit for these $100 increases?

I presume that Target shows your new limit(s) on your 3 CRA reports. Correct?

    Thanks - Jim

    Jim,

they base their increases off of their own system, so no inquiry.

I THOUGHT $100 FOR 1 INQUIRY WAS AWFUL EXPENSIVE...

BUT, I got ZERO cards for 4 INQUIRIES...so I went on the WAGON, then I thought I would get the AMEX CASH BACK PLAT that said "PRE-APPROVED"...DENIED that too, so I am on the WAGON again...

    ZERO CARDS FOR 5 INQUIRES...

    Jim,
I tried to increase my Target card two months ago. I got my Equifax last week and Experian credit report few moment ago and they didn't make any hard inquiry in both my reports.

    Thanks Ron,

I know I am being a little redundant here (my problem) not you guys; but since you just got your credit reports - is your target account showing up with the proper credit limit showing up on both reports?

There was a post here that said that Experian only reports the high balance not limit.

    Thank you.

    Jim,

I checked all three reports and Target reports both high balance and credit limit. Also, no inquiries for credit line increases.

Target does not report credit limit

-No, Target does not report credit limit to the bureaus, for Transunion only.
-They do not increase every three months, you have to use the card in order
    to get the increases.

Re: Target does not report credit limit

My target limits were only shown on EQ and TU, Experian only reported the high balances.

I also used the automated system for increases every 6 months, got all but one increase no inquiry, however the time I was denied an increase( applied to early after the last one) they did put a hard inquiry on report.

Re: Target does not report credit limit

I've had a Target card since they started offering cards. I can't remember how many years ago it was.
I started at 200.00. I received automatic $100.00 increase probably year 2 & 3. Since then nothing. I have always carried a balance and always paid on time. Due to this board, I tried calling for one and their automated system gave me another 100.00. Now I know to do it myself ever 4-5 months.
    Thanks

    HEY BEEN in VEGAS

I started at $500- then didnt find out about the automated increas e system.
call the back of the card - wait for 2nd menu to ask for increase.
    I am now $1000.
No inquiries ever after getting the card - reports limits to all of them I believe but at least 2 of them
