I had a collection account on my CR. The original creditor did not report to any CRA, only the collection agency.

I paid the balance to the orginal creditor.
The collection agency then changed my CR to "paid collection". I disputed with CRA saying that I never had any dealings with the collection agency and paid original creditor directly. The CRA deleted the account.

    Question:

Did CRA delete because I had no dealings with the collection agency? Or did collection agency not respond?

If the 1st is true this is a great method for getting collections removed when the original creditor isn't reporting.

They probably forwarded it to the collection agency, whose records show a paid off debt, collector saw no reason to respond to your dispute, hence item was not verified to the CRA and removed.

This is how 90% of all items are deleted from credit reports. Yes, it is wonderful!
