Hi - I hope I am not imposing on you. I am a little flustered handling a credit situation. I asked for a credit line increase on my Get Smart card by calling an executive directly on the telephone. I was told by this account executive that a decision should be made this past Tuesday or Thursday - at the latest, and that she would call me with a decision. She did call on Thursday and left a voice mail saying that the matter is still being researched and she would call Friday (yesterday). She called yesterday and said the matter was still being researched, and she would call in a few days.

I don't want to overreact with paranoia, but it seems they are stalling. Plus, maybe they are pulling a credit report, which has never happened to me with Providian, after I have received their card. I know I have presented skimpy evidence for being upset, but that is all there is, and I am upset - especially with another inquiry killing my score! All of a sudden, I don't know how to handle this situation.

I thought your experiences might give me an insight.
and I hoped you would give me your opinion on my situation, and any advice dealing with an executive?

    Relax a bit.

They will look at all your reports but they'll likely be soft inquiries. I've bugged them lots and I've never gotten anything but soft inquiries.

Now for the Exec office. They've either gotten busier or slack.

I talked with a girl 2 mos ago and I never got a call back. Never. disappointing to say the least. I'm cancelling the card in Jan no matter what so I don't really care but I was surprised at how poor they've gotten.

Prov has declined a lot in the last 6 mos. Retention can no longer do line increases. Their heavily promised upgrade system is nonexistent so far. And to top it all off, if you have multiple cards you still can't online access.

I'd like to combine all 3 of my cards into one and call it a day but they're the one subprime that doesn't do that.

Wait and see what you get. If you asked for line increases see if you can also get a gold upgrade for the wait.. act very nice but a tad frustrated.

If you have 16.9 interest rate you're fine otherwise get that too.

    Hi Marie,

You were so right in your post! I thought only the worst, but everything you said I verified with the executive office. They did a soft inquiry - AND - they upped my limit by $500! Not a great increase, but much appreciated.

Thanks for your calming, reasonable words :)
