Just a follow up to your question about what retail cards I have: Don't bother to apply to Chevron or Mobil. I regretted my inquiries to them. Dogman and LKH advise against applying to Mervyn's or Target as I have a BK. I believe that to establish a retail card with a Dept. store you have to be able to discuss your unique situation with the store like I did with Nordstroms. Otherwise, automatic denial.
I was able to discuss w/Macy's and after 2 years, I have their Pres. Club Visa ($5k for Visa, $5k for Macy's). At 21%, it's not a card that I revolve with, but they have a great rewards program.
