Sorin, Thank you for your posting on getting the MBNA Plat. Card.

Your posting did influence me in setting up my recient posting 0 to A+ credit in 15 months the way I did.

Now I have a doubter for the last item, the AMEX account.

As you so fit the profile of the recomendation I've posted would you please apply for a Blue card in the next few months?

I am quite sure you will get an approval.

Michael- excellent posting! How does an installment loan affect the mix?

I don't think it would affect it too much either way.

If you look at Sorin's posting he had a Secured Loan for $3K opened 2 months before the Discover card, and right after he got his Citibank card.

The loan proabably was not posted to his C.R. when he got the Discover Card as it usually takes about 90 days to post. It may possibly have helped towards the MBNA card but that's why I give a 90day space between Discover and MBNA.

Obviously you can use your own judgement to fit your own credit profile into this recomendation.

I was planning to try for an AMEX card by the
end of the year. I'm not sure which one though...

It will be a Blue or Optima. Or even an
Optima Platinum... does anybody know, if
they deny you for a Platinum, you'll
still be considered for a regular, or a
    Blue?

    Anyway, I'll keep you posted...

As in my previous posts BLUE is an optima card.

One of my clients was denied for Plat. was denied and then went for blue 45 days later.

He got $3K but before he even received the plastic got $10K equal to his Discover card.

I think you could convert Blue to Plat if your credit limit is high enough with little trouble, call amex they will tell you.

If so apply for Blue then decide!
