Ok, I sent them a validtion request on the 2/1. They sent me the "it's tax refund time so pay me" letter. They also addressed the letter from OSI but the return address is Gulf State. I looked on my husband's equifax report and they have 3 entries for the same account and a new addition from OSI for the same account. Same account number and same original creditor. My plan is to send the estoppel next and go down to the courthouse and get the paperwork. It really pisses me off that they think they will make me roll over by adding as many entries as they want to the report!!! I welcome any comments from you veterans warriors against Gulf State. Thanks for letting me blow my horn about this rouges!!
For starters, they won't respond to either validation or estoppel because as they admitted to me, when they buy accts. they don't get any documentation from the original creditors. What I did after they re inserted it on me, was to call their compliance office and advise them they haven't proven the acct. and therefore they need to remove it today. Ask them to send you a confirmation letter for this. If they refuse to delete it, sue them.
Email me, Milkmom and I will tell you my successful Gulfstate story. Not ready to post anything about it yet until I receive my letter and my check...lol. Its similar to LKH's situation...and others here I believe L
Excellent information, LKH. I am going to wait until the second week in March, get all of my information and proof together, not to mention my nerve, and ATTACK!!
Could you (or anyone else) please send me info or explain to me how to deal with Gulf State as well. I'm completely new to this, & can't find much help. Gulf state has 3 entries on my dh's Equifax report. One is under OSI Funding. (Only one entry on is Experian report.) But they are all the same. I know the acct. is my dh's but I want to know the orginal amount, b/c I niavely sent money to the original creditor a year after it was sold. I want to know how that money was applied & how much I should really owe. Should I contact the orginal creditor or send a letter to Gulf State to find out. Should it be a validation letter, even if I know the acct. is his, I just need to know how much it really is.
