02/07/02 18:03:00 U.S. regulators close Arizona-based NextBank WASHINGTON, Feb 7 (Reuters) - The U.S. Office of the Comptroller of the Currency on Thursday closed Phoenix, Arizona-based NextBank, owned by struggling online credit card company NextCard Inc. , citing unsafe operating practices likely to deplete the bank's capital. The Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation has been appointed receiver of the bank, which had assets of around $700 million and total deposits of around $550 million as of Dec. 31, the OCC said in a news release. The bank "experienced a substantial dissipation in assets and earnings through unsafe and unsound practices," the agency said, adding "there was no reasonable prospect for the bank to become adequately capitalized without federal assistance."

I know that I'm keeping my balance on it pretty minimal. A tank of gas here and there. I don't want to find out I owe the whole balance and have it up in the thousands.

I wonder if you have a zero balance but keep it open if it will just keep aging... I think I"ll pay off that huge 300 balance I have and use it to the tune of 5 a month until I can't anymore. too bad, I've been using the grace period.
I'd pay on my cell phone bill to "SEE" if the card still works, but is ALREADY OVER-PAID... I better change the credit card for AOL (wife's NEXT CARD)...(1 charge per month)...
I paid 2 of my phonebills, payment still went thru. hope it can hold up till monday, my girlfriend is going have lazik surgury. Will charge it to the nextcard.
I have both AOL and ATT @ HOME... Don't even know anything about ATT @ HOME, except it's on all the time...
AOL is the worst company to deal with, and worst service I have ever received. I currently am using ATT.
