Today in the mail I received my Target Visa with a whopping $700 limit an a 15.9% interest rate. :( I haven't even activated it yet because my other cards are far superior. <9.99% and over $5000 limits.

Should i keep and use it? Should i even activate it? Can i get them to lower the interest rate and raise the credit limit at this point?

Any advice would be appriciated! :)

If you want the card just tell them that the credit limit is $4,300 LOWER THAN YOUR LOWEST!!!

"Can you match the $5,000 or do I close it"

If they say $5,000...then ask about the interest rate...(I WAITED MANY MONTHS FOR 9.90%, AND MANY CALLS)

If they say stays at $700...THEN DUMP THEM!!!

their interest rate increments are 15.99, 12.99, 9.99

they'll be able to drop it to at least 12.99 (and it won't show in their system) which means next month you can call back and get 9.9.

Now, that's a bit of a pain so I'd just ask for a large increase and 9.9 and see what happens. You will have to speak with a supervisor to get any major changes to your account. They're pretty conservative right now... anyway, do it on the activation call.

ended up with 12.99. gave me some excuse that they could only do 1 increment at a time.... :(

    oh well, maybe next month

    Brian,

It sounds like my Juniper Visa. I received pre-approval from the mail. I applied on-line and they approved me for $500. After six months I called to request for increasing credit limit. They pulled hard inaquiry on my TransUnion credit report and they give me increase additional $150. They told me they cannot gave me that much increase because I don't have long credit history on my other cards. By the way, I got other credit cards from other banks with over 10K credit limit and I don't have any negative account on any my credit report. By the way, I got approved for $8500 for Target Visa. I called their customer service to lower my rate from 15.9% to 12.9% to 9.9% fixed. There is no luck to get increase for the limit increase and they always told me the computer will automatically increase accordingly. We knew it is a lie.

    Do this as an experiment:

call 888-755-5759. It's Target Authorizations. See if they can increase you. Don't expect it. but try it ;) Let us know if it works.

I'd dump them. If they give toy lines like that they don't deserve your business. I would look at cl like that as an insult.

Well, I call today to try to get the interest down again and failed. They said I was not eligible. After making a payment and my wife (EQ 765!) was turned down twice for the Target VISA I couldn't stand it anymore. The retention agent didn't even make any kind of effort to keep my business. Oh well. :(

    On to other company's! :)
