I have a question about a credit card account listed on my CR. It is for Chase bank. They are listing my high balance incorrectly. The card was NEVER at the amount they are showing. I want to dispute this with the CRA's but I don't want the tradeline to be deleted. I know that if they don't hear back from the OC within a certain time limit, they just delete the tradeline. If that happens how bad would the deletion affect my score. It is a positive tradeline with no lates ever but the high balance they are reporting is $1744 and it has never been over my credit limit of $1500. Would it make a big difference in my score should it be deleted? If so, how do I dispute it without them deleting it if they don't hear back from the OC?

high balance still seems to be a question most of us have yet to answer questions about. its pretty well agreed though that it doesnt hurt you to have a high balance thats really high even if it goes over your limit. i would say try to get a credit limit increase. DONT dispute. with it showing a high high balance it also looks like you managed more credit. some people charge up credit cards when they first get them so that the high balance shows more usage.
