I just called TU to dispute a few things on my report which included two inquiries that I never authorized. The rep told me that I had to call these companies (he gave me the phone numbers) and have them send a letter to TU stating that they had no record of my inquiries. Has anyone come across this response? Does this sound right? He also said he was sending out my updated report on Monday so I am assuming they are correcting my report right away.

It sounds like you reached a better rep. at TransUnion than most people. This one did actually give you some sound advice rather than the normal rude vomit they spew at those who call them.

Contacting the CRAs will rarely, if ever, help in cleaning up inquiries. You'll have better luck contacting the creditors by certified letter. There are sample inquiry-removal letters on the Carreon and Associates website at http://www.carreonandassociates.com.
