Transunion asking weird questions

I'm trying to get DHs credit report from transunion online. He was denied credit recently, so I'm going the free route. When they get to where they verify information to see that it's really you before they will give you access, all 3 questions having nothing to do with accounts DH has ever had. I've tried twice. Is this normal with them? As a result, they won't give it to me free because they say they cannot verify his denial. I'm a little worried that they are mixing his account up with someone else?

Anyone else faced this with them?

In my experience, I've always answered "none of the above" or something like that when answering online questions to verify my identity to receive a report. None of the questions have ever been related to any of my actual accounts on my credit report. I think they're all bogus questions - surely they don't use the same 3 for every person, but I wouldn't necessarily put it past 'em. As far as I can tell, CRAs are not known for their smarts... =)

Some time ago, one of the questions was referring to the MORTGAGE the monthly payment is...
    $1,000-$1,250
    $1,251-$1,500
    $1,501-$1,750
    $1,751-$2,000

    NONE OF THE ABOVE!!!
    IT WAS NOT EVEN $700!!!

I generally get two that are on my report and one that doesn't apply at all.

I take it back - sort of - Experian's Credit Expert asked me 1 valid question - the other 2 were bogus.

Yeah, I always get three duds when pulling DWs report. Last choice for each question is none of the above/does not apply. If you're sure none of the above is the right answer, just give that, even if it's all three, and you'll get the report.

I had the same problem the first time. I went to worthknowing.com and pulled my report (free). They only ask you two questions. Once I got the report and could see what TU was reporting, I went back to their site and was able to get a report.

Just remember, don't pay attention to the WK setup for the TU report. A positive is not necessarily a positive.

Thanks everyone! I feel better knowing that this is typical. I was getting worried there for a minute. DH has one of those very common names, so there is potential for a mix-up.

And, after checking out the post on which report a creditor pulls (very helpful!!!), it looks like the one that denied him (Citibank) probably did not even pull TU anyway.

    Thanks again!

    Hi

I pulled TU online back in Feb and will do so again in a week or so. I recall that 1 out of 3 "current" debts was a "bogus" set of choices so I answered "none of the above" or something like . In the previous two days I had ordered EXP and EQF online and they both had "current debt" figures that I could match. So I was worried about the one TU that I couldn't match. Everything was okay - I guess that TU likes to see if they can trip you up as a further precaution I guess.
