Transunion is letting Arrow Financial Services ( a collections agency) do a Credit Report Account Review Inquiry on my credit report every month and have been for the last 6mos. I wrote Transunion and have ask them why they are allowing Arrow to Review my Credit Report but all I get back from them is a form letter stating that certain company's can look at my credit without my permission, This I know. But Arrow has no Reason to be looking at my Credit Report. I have no Bad accounts and no business with these people what so ever. Like I said, I have asked Transunion to tell me why they are showing my credit report to arrow and which Guideline that they fall under that Arrow does not need my permission but Transunion refuses to tell me. Transunion told me I need to contact Arrow which I have done many times but Arrow refuses to return my Phone Calls or answer my Letters, I have also Faxed Letters to Arrow but have not heard a thing from them. Would anyone know how I can stop or find out why Arrow Financial Services keeps doing this Monthly Credit Report Review Inquiry on my Credit Report? Also how does a person stop Transunion from allowing Arrow to do this?

While they may not have a permissible purpose - hard inquiry - they are going fishing to see how you handle other accounts, in hopes that they will see an account that might be late - to contact the original creditor and buy that debt from them.

According to others, the only way to talk to Arrow is by way of a lawsuit.

I think fishing is exactly right.

I have an inquiry on TU from Arrow in January. Earlier this week they contacted me to tell me they'd just aquired an account on a credit card I had that was charged off in January of 2006...

They're asking for about $150 more than the original $406 that was charged off.

Right now I'm trying to work with the OC as to why they charged-off an account two years ago and have made no attempt to contact me, but chose to sell my account anyhow - basically, hoping they'll realize they messed up by selling my account for $3 when I'm now in the position to pay them a lot more... Essentially, I'm trying to avoid Arrow based on what I've read.

Anyhow, is this grounds for a class action? Is this practice legal?

So it would be a good thing to have a freeze placed on ones credit reports then.?

The problem with "freezing" is that no creditor will be able to access your info, so if you apply for something you will be turned down as that creditor you applied with has no info on you.

Could you not lift the Freeze temporary when you know that someone will be needing to see your Credit Report. How long can you put a freeze on your Credit Report?

They still must have a pp, even for a soft inquiry, and a fishing expedition is not one of them. You need to write Arrow and ask them why they are pulling your report.

A freeze will not stop a collection agency from pulling your report.

Especially an account review. While an AR is coded as a soft pull, the reviewer still gets to see the entire report. Huge invasion of privacy for someone you don't have a business relationship with.
