UGH...what is UP with Transunion. I sent a dispute letter on two of my accounts to Transunion on PLAIN paper NO letterhead. I get back, the same day as my CRRR card a form letter from Transunion stating they received a dispute from a THIRD PARTY CREDIT REPAIR AGENCY and they do not take action. I have to fill out the form they gave me which gives them ALL my information and go in detail about the debt.

First of all, I want to know who is reading their mail to think that my letter is from a third party.

Second of all I know it's been said to send them as little information as possible, now they are forcing me to send them everything about myself in order to verify.

Third, they want a signature and I've seen on here DO NOT SIGN ANYTHING...what to do...what to do??

    UGH...EVIL EVIL EVIL!!

THEY SEND THAT LETTER TO ALMOST EVERYBODY!!!

YOU CAN SIGN IT...(BUT when dealing with a CA...NEVER SIGN ANYTHING...and MOST OF ALL...NEVER SEND NOTORIZED SIGNATURES THEY ASK FOR)!!!

WAIT AND SEE WHAT HAPPENS AFTER 30 DAYS from the CERTIFIED R/R DATE...

Some have said that sending anything "NEW", starts the 30 days ALL OVER AGAIN!!!

Same situation here in late April.

I phoned TU. Rep said "we confirmed you were using a credit repair agency. Nothing will be done unless you re-dispute"

"Say what? Pull up the image and tell me who sent in a dispute besides me."

Rep said she needed to speak to her supervisor. Came back on line after a few minutes, said she worked in the CA location. Said the PA office had some problems and sent out such notices in error. Said my letter would go directly to her supervisor for immediate action.

Reply was due 5/8. TU usually takes 5 days to mail, so time is almost up.

Call TU and first ask them what date they received your letter. Then tell them to pull up your letter from their system and see for themselves that they goofed yet again.

    Good luck.

This is a cheap stall tactic on their part. It's hogwash ! They're trying to get you to contact them again so they can claim you brought new info. to the dispute and then claim the 15 day extension that FCRA grants them.

I would not say or send a damn thing, let the 30 days plus mailing time elapse and then, if you haven't heard from them, send another CMRRR letter with a copy of the first letter, inform them they have violated FCRA by not resolving the dispute within 30 days and then demand deletion ! (at the very least, others can advise you on if the CRA owes you $1,000 !)

Would a judge really side with them as having thought this was from a CRO when you show your first dispute letter in evidence ?

All that being said, I am NOT an expert so I'm just giving you something to search on here in case someone with more experience doesn't pipe up.

thanks you all...I'm between calling and waiting 30 days...I'll do a seach and see though.

I was going to send this all with a copy of my original letter w/return receipt along with my response, but I'll wait for the 30 days.

wait the 30 days, then sue for deletion if they don't delete because they did not investigate and delete after the 30 day investigational period.

TU sent me the same form letter even though I sent out my disputes on regular white bond paper, from my home address.

IMO, this letter is nothing but stall tactics from TU so they do not have to do their job and validate the debts they are reporting.

However, I have no idea if I have a leg to stand on considering I have no earthly idea how to file suit, do not have and can not afford a lawyer.

    Good luck to you.

You can file a law suit in small claims court, I have one pending against TU right now go at the end of May. Funny I have heard nothing from TU as of this date about the law suit.... I filed because they sent me back the same form letter stating to me that I was with a CRO too and would not act on my second letter I sent to them so I filed In small claims court for 3,000 have them by the balls too because the other two of the big three deleted the TL from my report as being a duplicate of another TL from the same company, and TU said they verified it as real LOL

I disputed on-line with Transunion on 5/1/03 and my deletions and new credit report were received on 5/12/03 in the mail. Next time you may want to try this route. I had everything but one deleted out of six items.

Thanks to others on the board, I read that you do not have to have a report number to dispute on line.
