I am full of questions today.

I am helping a friend with her report.

She was recently, within the last 3 weeks, contacted by the above collection agency by telephone.

THIS ACCOUNT IS NOT CURRENTLY LISTED ON ANY OF HER REPORTS.

she has never received any written communication from them.

When she was contacted by telephone at her workplace, she advised them that she had no idea what this alleged debt is for and they told her they were sorry for bothering her.

she has since received two more phone calls requesting payment.

we pulled a copy of her credit report, and low and behold they pulled a hard inquiry 1/23/02.

this inquiry was obviously pulled BEFORE they attempted to contact her.

I believe that a validation request is in order, but would love any suggestions on how to handle the inquiry?

luckily TRIADVANTAGE'S address is listed on the Transunion report under inquiries. But since there is no account reporting, can we send a validation letter WITHOUT an account number?

Should we even send a validation letter with no account reporting, (just the hard inquiry)?

    Suggestions would DEFINITELY be appreciated.

Sure, send a validation letter. Name and address should be enough for them to know who it is in reference to.
