As some of you may remember I had a 250.00 charge to my Fleet card that I did not do, they took it off and are investigating. Yesterday Citibank calls me in regards to myQuicken card, someone charged 1400.00!!!!!!!!! to my account, they don't have all the details yet, but they immediately closed the account and will issue a new card and account number. Now I am beginning to worry this is the second time in 30 days someone has used my cards, I had not used either of the cards for months. Do you think someone has hacked into my computer?? The other strange thing is that I have AOL IM and they other day when I signed on it stated my account was logged on in 2 different places, anybody know what this is all about?? I am getting worried and can't figure out how someone is getting a hold of my account numbers???
Do you have a credit monitoring service? Sounds like this might be good time to invest in one, if not, so that you can keep watch for any inquiries that aren't yours. You might also want to launch a preemptive strike by contacting all your card companies and telling them that someone has been using your cards without permission and requesting new account numbers and not using your new accounts for online purchases (which sucks at the holidays) I think you can also put a fraud alert on your credit files. I hope you can put a stop to this before it becomes your worst nightmare! Good luck Poochie
AOL has had numerous cases of accounts being hacked, sometimes by convincing their own customer service people that a caller has forgotten their password. Is your AOL charge made to one of the credit cards that was fraudulently charged? This could be done by hacking your account clicking on one of AOL's pop-up ads. Did any of your e-mails contain credit card information?
Mom, this is not my area of expertise, but I sure wish you the best of luck in getting this taken care of. It sure sounds like someone got your info somewhere.
