Hmmm...dont think they will let y'all apply just in his name. Community property state. This may not be true, but I'm pretty sure. HOWEVER, since he is the sole earner, it wouldnt hurt for him to have a good report.

Keep in mind, my score was only 545 when we bought. Hubby's file didnt have enough info, so no score could be issued. They only looked back 1 year. Since you're in TX, I betcha you've heard of the builder and I betcha I could call our mortgage lady for ya!!!!

    My story:
i thought the same when i got my "dream car".. it was a 1 yr old lease turn-in on a $60k jag.. got it for only 40k from the dealership! Seemed like a great deal, and hell it's a jag I'll keep it for a long time so sure I'll go for a 5yr loan on it. big mistake. the longer the loan, the more likely you are to get upside down on it. I only financed 25k on it, and it still eventually went upside down for a while (these things have a HUGE spread between trade in and retail)! ouch, as I wanted to sell it and buy out my cherokee sport lease when it was up but refused to bury the neg equity! ended up getting rid of the truck :( Now I'm using it as a daily driver, hauling my 4yr old son around in it every day, and it's slowly getting trashed :( mileage, wear-tear, parking lot dings, etc...
Personaly, I will no longer finance for over 3 years, and it will be something relatively cheap and I'll shoot to keep it for 5 years. buy that which appreciates - I could have bought a harley and a muscle car or 2! hell, even a used viper would have depreciated much less :) let alone a down payment on a house instead of renting an apt!

Whoa!! When did you buy this house and where??? Wife and I are putting together a 15% down payment on a 600K house in SF. We go to get pre-qualified next week. Houses around here are just impossible.

She's in Texas. When I was a real estate agent, I just loved showing houses to California relocators. I had to close their mouths so bugs wouldn't fly in, when I showed them the first house in their price range ;) Just drove by a 3000 square foot house today, barn, corrals, various other outbldgs, inground pool, on 100 acres = 500K

I love texas! I think I'm a texan trapped inside an Ohio body :) Every year I look for a job down there to relocate, but being in IT there's a lot of local talent who need work who land the interviews (rightfully so). some day...

four20nik...you are gonna love that truck! DH and I bought a brand new one back in 1999 and I'll never drive anything else. Ours is a F250 HD, PS, Crew Cab, 4X4, SWB with all those bells & whistles. We paid $34,200 for it and with our trade in and some cash, had an $8000 down payment on it so the payments aren't bad at all. Not to mention, I think we are gonna double up on them and pay it off early.

You said the truck you are looking at is a "quad cab", do you mean crew cab? Just asking cause that price seems kinda high for a quad cab.

We are in central Texas also. We found our truck at the Ford dealership over in Navasota, they beat our local dealership on the same truck by almost $6000. Oh and don't go into shock the first time you have to buy diesel...my last fill-up cost me $1.75 a gallon. However, we feel in the long run a diesel is worth the price. DH has a Dodge diesel that has 250k miles on it and it is still running like new.

Have fun in your new truck!

We bought our house in Aug 02. SF real estate is a little worse than Seattle. First moved here and went into reverse "sticker shock", lol. It is pretty amazing. Unfortunately, we live in one of the most expensive cities in TX...cost of living SUCKS. Our 1 br apt rented for 1325 per month.

Yes, I found my roots...finally, lol. We seem to be a little enamored with our state, but rightfully so!!

Things really are different here. When I moved here, had 70 bucks in my pocket and started totally over. Best move I ever made. Of course, I've started to pick up that TX twang, lol.

Still in the "should we or shouldnt we" stage.
Yes, it is a crew cab...my bad. Hubby is still trying to decide between the dodge and the ford. I am still partial to a dually though...but that is an extra 5 grand. The sticker on the ford in 42 something, but they knocked it to 39 something. They will also eat our trade and NOT tack the neg equity (9500 payoff, 4000 value, eating 5500). We plan on keeping the truck for a LONG time, so trading it in in a few years isnt really in the pic.

Why the hec is it so stressful buying a vehicle???

I feel for ya! We got approved through bofa for a car loan now we can't decide what we want! When we started this adventure we were originally buying the Chevy Venture WB, but that was when we didn't think we would actually get approved for anything! Anyway, we did get the approval, now we need to decide - neither my dh nor I can make decisions to save our lives (Venture, Explorer, Tahoe, Durango, ughh why are their so many choices!) and we have to decide before 4/28 what we want! I'm guessing sometime on 4/28 the decision will be made! Sad huh? Good luck w/ your decision I'm sure you will make the right one!

I know exactly what you mean!! It started out as a "lets have some fun and see if they'd do it". Now that they said yes, we're standing there like "Uhhhh..." Guess people are always braver at the seen of the crime than when the $hit hits the fan, lol.

Good luck to you! Think I will do a budget up and work the new payment in to see how it looks.

Oh Lordy, I hope you didn't let him near the Dodge Hemmy's. I believe their gas, but neighbor got one shortly after DH got his Ford, and it took him 3 days to quit pouting.

Dually's are great, I just hate parking those beasts.

I'm a nervous wreck about parking any of them! We have already decided that what we get has to have the rear parking assistance!! Not that that will help me drive on these narrow roads over here!

I look at that as a form of entertainment. Little Miata zipped out in front of Jeepy she's lifted + big nasty super swampers, should have seen her when I got "really" close.
