Verizon sent my daughter a letter stating she owed 165.00 on a bill that was over 12 years old.I told her to tell them the statue of limitation has long since expired on this bill in new york. Can you beleive these people. They told her to write them a letter explaining this and i told my daughter to tell them to get lost she has better things to do with her time. This is the first time they notified her of this bill in 12 years!
It may not even be legitimate, or may be someone else's debt, that the JDB is "creatively" collecting from her. Did the JDB say the debt was from 12 years ago? Did they send her the required first letter notifying her of her right to dispute the debt and request the amount and name of the original creditor?
Dear Stupid CA. Go pound sand. Sincerely, your daughter Seriously, although they can't sue your daughter and win (as long as she raised SOL as an affirmative defense), they can still try to collect. She should send them a short letter that states: Please cease and desist from contacting me. This debt is SOL. That *should* stop the phone calls.
Send it CRRR, so you have proof they got it. If they continue attempting to collect, post it on your CR, or sue, you will have them on FDCPA and FCRA violations.
