Hello, My name is Jill and I have been reading here for a while and finally have the courage to post. I am 24 years old and I have horrible credit. Last time I checked my credit score was about 550. Most of my debt I stopped paying on in 1998 since I could not afford my min. payments anymore. A few might be from 2000. My question is should I try and write letters to get these taken off my cr? Most of this is from credit cards with pretty low limits with the highest being 2500 and the lowest 200. It seems like ca are constantly calling me and it has gotten to the point that I dont want to even answer my phone anymore. I even had one place call last year and just scream cuss words over the phone and then hang up on me My husband and I would like to be able to buy a home some time in the future but when we spoke to a mc they basically said we had to pay off all of my old debt. I have recently gotten a 200 cc and having been paying it on time for the last 5 mos trying to at least have something good on my report as it is all pretty much bad besides my old car loan. I really just dont know where to start and how exactly to start this process. This is so much information on this site and I find it a little overwhelming. Thanks for any help
jjtt, 1.What does your report look like? CA, OC judgements? 2.What are the Dates of last activity? 3.Have you pulled all 3 CRA? More info..........
I 2nd mitch's questions....and add a few: how many are with collection agencies? how many are with the original creditor? do you have any judgments against you? are any of your creditors threatening to sue? have any filed suit yet or try to file suit, sending you a summons? are there auto reposessions involved or possibility of a repo? This is probably going to be a long road here, so buckle down and get ready. And it will get frustrating. You have already begun to rebuild your credit, so continue to do so by using your good card(s) and making timely payments. We are all here to help too! Don't be afraid to ask anything. We are a great support group too! Keep us posted.

Hello, Sorry has been a busy day I actually have an old credit report from Aug. and all of the dates of last activity range from dec.98 to may 2000.They are all charge-offs with ca.Some say the balence due in 0 which is wrong so I really dont understand that. I have no repos or anything like that. All cars are in good standing. There are no judgements and no one has said they will sue or anything. Heck even if they did I do not work nor do I have anything of value.. Our cars are in dh and his grandfathers name. My dh is in the military and we do not own a house. I have received letters from a few ca sayig they would persue legal action but that was probably a year or so ago and nothing yet. I belive the sol is 3 years here in NC so most are past that. The credit report I have shows all 3 and my score ranges from 504 to 566. How should I go about fixing all of this? Should I try and pay these off with some type of payment plan or just wait the 7 years? Sorry I am clueless even reading all of these posts. Its a lot to absorb.. Thanks guys!
How should I go about fixing all of this? 1*Should I try and pay these off with some type of payment plan or just wait the 7 years? 2*Sorry I am clueless even reading all of these posts. Its a lot to absorb.. jjtt6 ===================== 1*Pay them off and they will still be there for 7 years so why pay? Seems most of the debts are beyond sol so again what do you think you would gain by paying them off? What people don't seem to understand is you can't pay your way out of a negative item on your report. 2*Click on this link: to MUST-READ: "Hall of Fame" Postings Lots of clues there! http://consumers.creditnet.com/straighttalk/board/showthread.php?s=&postid=352826#post352826 Read and study the below 3 threads listed there. if they aren't outside the SOL, i would suggest settling on them contingent upon immediate removal or better yet, reporting as paid as agrees w/no lates (you can do monthly payments). one thing to consider is if you ever want credit from these companies again you may want to pay.

1. "i believe" isn't the same as "the law" 2. there is such a thing as a pays as agreed OC 3. haven't you ever seen a collection reporting as 120+ days late? 4. for every CA there was an OC - i knew our amicable relationship was just too good to be true......
