I just pulled a CR from TU today. I requested 5 items to be verified. 30 days is up on the 15th. 4 of the five items are still showing, but 1 item is actually marked as "THE FOLLOWING ITEM IS SUPPRESSED PENDING CREDIT GRANTOR UPDATE" I always thought TU never had the ability to show items marked in dispute? But, while I was looking, I noticed that I have a new collection account on my report from American General Finance. I disputed the original CA on this account and it fell off. Did AGF give the account to someone else. Original CA info is as below: Cap One transfer updated: 11/2002 Open: 07/1998 Paid Off: 02/1997 Balance: 0 Most Owed: 947 Status as of 06/1997: charged off as bad debt. Individual Account American General New Credit Info: Credit SOL Placed for collection Updated: 01/2003 Placed: 6/2000 Bal: 946 Most Owed: 946 Past Due: 946 Closed: Status as of 1/2003 Collection account Now I think they are trying to reage this account maybe? But my original CA entry said it was paid off? I have no idea. Should the CA notify me before they enter it on my report? Any help here?
Wow - how did you get a charge-off in June of 1997 when you didn't even open the account until July 0f 1998, and you paid off the account in February of 1997? That has got to be the single most messed up TL I've ever seen. I'd save this copy of the report, and demand that the account be deleted in June of next year, because the seven years will be up, according to the creditor's own reporting. What state are you in? Has the SOL expired on the original debt? If so, tell the CA to pound sand and get their info off the report - you owe them nothing! -HDAlex
Yeah, I thought this was funny also. I am in Illinois now, I'm pretty sure the SOL is up. I'm waiting until the 30 days are up through TU dispute before I go after the CA. The 30 mdays should be up on the 15ht.
