They claim they want to protect the cofidentiality of the credit report??? Should I only give them current address, name and social, or all the information they are asking for? My thought on this is that they should be able to figure out my credit report from my social, name and DOB. Am I wrong? Should I provide previous address, Drivers License number, etc??? I'm a newbie, and I don't want to make a mistake by sending them too much info.

    Thanks for your help!

They usually do that if you've moved recently or if the address you provided doesn't match the one being reported by your creditors.

Send them your name, SSN and a copy of a utility bill or bank statement--blot out the numbers or better yet, I just copy the phone bill inside of it's envelope so that only the phone company name/address and your name/address show. I've done that befor and they were happy.

They're just making sure it's really you.

I had this problem because when I called in they didn't realize that my street name had a silent "e".

I called them and said "I'm So-and-so and you requested address confirmation and I think it's because my street name is 'Blowe' with an 'e'." They said that *was* the problem and they'd send my report right to me.

I didn't have to mail them anything.

You are not really giving them new information - you are just proving that you are the person who is entitled to receive the report. If they cannot ask for verification that it is you, a lot more fraud will occur. Without verification, anyone could get anyone else's credit reports.
