I got an updated report today. I had 2 derogs deleted, and two other derogs were now being reported as positives somehow. I also got 6 positive finance company records deleted (they hurt FICO scores). Now I have 2 derog accounts. One is a 30 day late pay from before 3/96, and the other is a Direct student loan that incorrectly shows 3 times 90+ days past due from 5/2000 (yikes). I never paid on the loan at all, so I don't see how it is possible to get 3 times 90+ days. Anyway, I was in school, so I assumed the loan was in deferment. I was in a car wreck a year earlier and had to skip one semester to nurse a broken knee. I received the loan due notices and called the school. I talked to at least 3 people who looked at my account and told me it was a mistake and not to worry. They said the loan would never even be reported until it was 180 days late. That was a lie. Anyway, I finally talked to someone at the school with half a brain that explained the in-school deferment expired once I skipped a semester. Bah!, now they tell me. Anyway, I successfully got this account deleted from both Equifax and Experian, but TU has verified the debt once or maybe twice now. I started another dispute on both accounts today. It's funny, TU was by far my worst report, now it is my best. Go figure. Once I close on my mortgage (fingers crossed), I think I will apply for some prime cards while those two accounts are in dispute. It just reaffirms that persistence and "credit education" really can pay off. Don't give up hope.
did you dispute them on line? TU seems to be the one CRA that I have the worst time getting things deleted.
TU is definately the worst report I have, and the one that seems to be the hardest to have remove items. In my early stages of getting my credit back in-line, I was paying off collection accounts (mostly medical and bad checks) like crazy, and used my TU as a basis, since most everyone here in MO and IL pulls TU. They also seem to report things LATER than everyone else (for instance, a medical bill collection account with date of last activity on both EQ and EX of 11/94 and assigned to collections 5/95 is showing as a date of last activity on my TU as 5/95, thereby removing it 6 months LATER than the other two reports). I just received my denial letters from CITI and from Household (Best Buy), both of whom pulled TU, with a current score of 542 (can't seem to raise it at all either). I guess I'll just wait until mid 2002 and try again. A. J.
Yes, I have been disputing online for the last few months. I used Junum before that with limited success.
