I just received an updated report, and included with it is a dispute form. My personal info is already on the form, and it has 2 areas on the front and 4 on the back to use for disputes. They are similar to the pull down menus on their website. There is also an area at the bottom for additional comments. Has anyone ever seen this before? If definitley looks like it was inspired by the website.
Yea I got the exact same thing with my last TU report. I think it reduces chances for people filling in erroneous information (at least as much as a form can prevent such things). By pre-filling in certain fields and making boxes to check they simplify the process. I haven't used TU online to dispute so I can't tell you if it is the same but I like the new form. If they were "inspired" by the website, that's one more in the win comumn for the WWWeb! -Peace, Dave
Thanks for replying, Dave. Do you have any concerns about using the form, such as the use of the form alerting them to the fact that you have received your credit report, possibly by disputing previously?
No, the ONLY way to get that form (supposedly) is through ordering your report. The only way to dispute is through ordering your report (need the confirmation number). The only thing that form shows them is that you are using the "official TU form". Also they KNOW when you've been sleeping, been awake, been bad or good...so they don't need anything else to tell them that you have disputed before...they knew that too. -Peace, Dave
Sorry, Dave. I guess that was a dumb question. Thanks to responding to it anyway. I thought those little guys peeking in my window watching my every move were reporting to Santa!!
There are no dumb questions!! And that guy peeking in with the little green hat isn't me! I SWEAR!...I mean what hat....there was a hat? <delete> <delete>...shoot, how do you delete these posts anyway ) -Peace, Dave
Technically you are correct...in the online world the Confirmation Number is automatically submitted to the CRA to define what report you are looking at. Even though you do not see the number, a number is generated by (TU for worthknowing) the CRA for every report. If you go back to worthknowing and ask for your report again you will see the same report...even if new items are added to your file. That is because worthknowing requests the information based on that "confirmation number" you just never see it...the wonders of the electronic world. When you dispute online...the confirmation number is sent automatically as well. Again you just don't see it. Actually with Experian, I have disputed via snail mail and viewed my exact report and dispute(s) online using the unique number from the hard copy. I have also disputed via CreditExpert (online equivilent of worthknowing - cough-cough) and used the "confirmation number" to view my report via Experian...that is because Experian issued the unique number based on the report. Bottom line is, you can't dispute WITHOUT FIRST ordering a report. Whether online, snail mail, fax, or phone dispute...you must have ordered the report first. Whether you see or do not see the confirmation number...it is assigned to that report. -Peace, Dave
You know I never thought about how Junum disputed items from a tri-merged report...which obviously did not have the confirmation number in it. Some people would send Junum their merged reports. I always sent them my hard copy reports when I used them...and now on my own I always have the #...but I never thought about disputing items without having the report # from the hard copy...interesting question, I see what you are getting at Solzy. Can you dispute with TU from your worthknowing report if you say - printed it out, and sent it to TU with items marked for disputes? Guess so. They should take them without any report #. -Peace, Dave
