While disputing some accounts for the wife with TransUnion, I got a letter in the mail from them. Have any of you ever seen something like this? Dear Consumer, As a credit reporting agency, TransUnion functions as a storehouse of information supplied to us by creditors. When an item is disputed, it is our procedure to contact the source of the disputed information and updatte the status of the account based on the verfication received from the disputed source. TransUnion does not store merchandise, sales slips, receipts, etc. for any creditors. Therefore, we are unable to comply with your request to supply you with the creditor's documentation. You will need to contact the credit grantor(s) directly with your request. Please include the file number from the upper right corner on all future correspondence with Trans Union. Duhhhhh! I thought it was their job to verify the accuracy of information. I got four letters in one envelope from TU. I am going to post the rest later.
Remember a few weeks ago when Equifax ran amok and printed out garbage for a week? Something similar is up at TU... I got 3 letters in one envelope from them yesterday. The first was the all to familiar "we are required by law to keep all inquiries for two years blah blah blah." The second was "don't confuse credit limit with high credit etc etc." Huh? Why would I confuse that? Furthermore, did I ask? Lastly, a long dissertation on their views of responsible credit management. What? None of the 3 letters listed above apply to anything I was disputing or anything I questionned. Like the "random number generator" idea, maybe this is a "random form letter generator."
LisaMc "we are required by law to keep all inquiries for two years blah blah blah." ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- LAW???? When did that LAW get passed???
