I am in the midst of a chodding TU. I pulled a worthknowing and saw a new a/c has appear on my file after I started the dispute (I was an AU....account status is being reported incorrectly as a charge off). What do you think....should I initiate a new dispute now (any reason to wait until the other one is complete)? Any reason to prefer mail, phone or fax to online for TU?
i don't know why, but for some reason faxing makes me wonder whether you mean hostile faxing or just matter of fact?
I just write a note and fax it. Usually factual - what do you mean hostile? I am never hostile. Grouchy sometimes, but never hostile.
Like I said, I dunno why, something about faxing a dispute just seemed for me associated with exasperation and made me ask that question.
I think faxing gives you the detachment of a written letter and the speed of the telephone. I do not like to talk to them on the phone. I have had all kinds of agreement and promises over the phone, with zero results. I prefer to write my dispute down on paper and get it to them via a medium that they cannot immediately respond to. Telephone is just wishy washy. But I hate waiting for them to receive snailmail. I can prove they got my fax. So, no it is just another way to communicate in writing. Actually, I don't have anything left to dispute, as far as derogs go. The paid tax liens are 6 years old, and due to come off soon. They are not affecting me much that I can see. Incorrect information is something else. So far they changed my date of birth, my address (twice), have incorrect limits on 3 accounts, incorrect status on 2, I could go on and on. I disputed an incorrect status, they updated to a different balance (the account is closed). I tried to dispute again, they won't let me, they say they just verified. It is affecting my balance to limit ratio's. I approached it from the other end, asking the creditor to update and report the account as closed, zero balance. So far nothing. We'll see, hehe. My car loan never reports. I have to dispute the balance every three months to keep it current.
