I disputed lates on a utility trade line with TU on March 21st. I did this online. I already received the results back today (April 10th) and they reinvestigated the wrong trade line. Now, I am 99% sure I put the correct account number in the form, However, I am 100% sure I put the utility company name not my old mortgage name in the form, which they verified. Has this happened to anyone else before? The worst part is I have no proof.

It happened to me. I placed a dispute to investigate an old collections account and they "investigated" and deleted a closed mortgage account with a perfect payment history instead. I was livid. I contacted Don Richman via email and he got the account re-inserted with a lot of prodding. Don has since been transferred to a different department and he stopped taking requests shortly thereafter. I'm not sure who you should contact now?

TU will tell you that the only way to get the account re-inserted is to contact the OC and have them re-report. This is a lie. Do not accept it as an answer. Find the right person and send them a stern letter and let them know that you mean business. Its going to be a tough fight without documentation though.

You can also "manufacture evidence" by sending them a crrr letter re-stating the facts as they occurred. Conclude your letter by stating: "These are the facts as they occurred. If you disagree with anything stated in this letter please notify me in writing within 30 days otherwise I will assume that you agree with that the statements made in this letter are truthful and factual." If they don't respond, you have an "admission by silence".

If all else fails, file in small claims and try to settle out of court for a re-insertion. They will have no way of knowing in advance that you don't have your original dispute documented.

Same thing happened to me. I emailed Don Richman (no longer there, try a search for his replacement) and also wrote TU. Within about a week the deleted account they wrongfully investigated was reinserted.

I had to call TU again about the account I originally disputed. I explained that it was TU's mistake for investigating the wrong account and their 30 days is up to investigate I had disputed. They deleted the account on the phone.

I would try writing them (if you can't find Don Rich.'s predecessor) and explaining they investigated the WRONG ACCOUNT....you never disputed such and such account and demand it be reinserted and the disputed account be immediately deleted. Keep everything!!!
