I have been trying to find out the difference between these by reading old posts, but have had no luck. Is the score they send you in the mail after a dispute, FICO or FAKO?
The score they send you in the mail is FAKO. The one they charge $12.95 for is FICO. My free TU FAKO score is 759 and my real TU FICO is 690.
Are we sure the online one is not FAKO and the paper one FICO? Just trying to figure these clowns out.
Actually I am a bit confused. Just got a report in mail and says 672. Just checked online and 709. Only difference is 1 inquiry off due to bumpage since the mailed report. That can't be good for 37pts?!?!?
The score you get for free (paper or online) is fake. The one you pay $12.95 for is real. It matched exactly what my mortgage broker said it was when they pulled my credit.
The one you get in the mail is called a "Trans Union Consumer Credit Score" it is on a scale of 150 to 934. The way I define a FICO score is that it must be on a scale of 300 to 850. Each of the big three CRA's sells lenders a real FICO score. These scores are on the same scale. The whole point is that a 661 from Equifax and a 661 from Trans Union need to mean the same thing. The Trans Union Consumer Credit Score is a fake credit score. I figure roughly that you subtract 70 points from this score to get the real score but you mileage may vary.
