    Hello all.
I just wondered if I am the only one getting odd letters from Trans Union all of a sudden re: disputes. I keep getting letters "explaining" terms. Like how long certain items stay on my report. I KNOW THIS ALREADY! What happened to the resutls of your investigation are......? This letter has a file# on it, so I assume it's in response to SOMETHING I did. But, isn't it odd that they don't say what? Is this just a really crappy way of buying them some time? I don't get what they are trying to do.

They can buy more than time that way, they can save the cost of doing anything at all.

It only takes a couple seconds to hit a button on a computer and spit a form letter back. Some types of disputes get routine "you are using a credit repair organization" letter, when you are not, even if you later get a valid response to your dispute.

Few people dispute at all. Few even know how, or what to expect. Of those few, if they get a letter like that, fewer still will know what to do to actually get their dispute actually investigated or any correction made. Legal compliance and consumer disputes are a cost center, not a profit center. Of course, if you have to keep ordering reports to try to fix something, that's profit.

You should be tracking, based on your own records and Certified receipts, the elapsed time from each dispute to an actual valid response. Regardless of whether they send meaningless reponses, if they have not sent a result of their investigation of your dispute within the statutory time, plus mailing time, send a followup letter asking where the results are. If they can't verify, demand that they remove, if that is your goal.

If you keep getting brushed off, send a complaint to your state AG, as well as to FTC. You will have a paper trail of their nonsense by then.
