for some reason, the TU report doesn't report the DOLA. Check your experian report, and it tells you when something is due to come off.

    hope they dont differ..
i've got some things on experian that differ from equifax date wise. I would assume the same problem would exist between them and transunion on some lines :/
    thanks

TU has one, they just refuse to tell us what it is.

Someone really needs to sue over that point...

Why would they not have the DOLA?

I called and spoke with a TU rep, and she told me the status field is the field used to start the seven year reporting clock.

    I.E. >Status as of 5/2002: Paid chrge off<

the 7 year clock starts at 5/2002 in this example.

EQ tried to tell me this as well, but the person on the phone didnt know what they were talking about I dont think, because the last activity field seems to be what they go by.

I hope this isnt how TU does it, because the last time I disputed something it was verified to be accurate and the status field was up'd by 6 years. :/

All I know is what I was told...lol

I don't think, technically, they are required to report the DOLA, or at least I don't see a requirement in the law telling them to.

I only see a requirement telling them to not report any negative item that antedates the report by more than seven years (except in special situations). Obviously, they have to track the DOLA somewhere in their system in order to delete timely, but I don't think they have to report the date by law. Of course, it makes it rather difficult to determine if they are reporting items that antedate the report by more than 7 years if they don't give the DOLA, but I am not sure this would be sufficient grounds for a law suit.

The woman that you spoke to was obviously mistaken. Go figure, huh? The status field is where the OC updates the CRA, either monthly or yearly, or however they do it. It also gets updated whenever you dispute. There is no date on the TU report that even remotely resembles a DOLA! Hopefully, between EQ and EXP, you can figure out the correct time frames!

If you have the inclination to order the consumer disclosure (as opposed to the one businesses see), I would like to know your take on the differences between the two.

A simple matter of fact reading of the FCRA will tell you that if they store it, then they are required to give it to you in their consumer disclosure. There is at least one FTC opinion that concurs, and I think even a court case.

It's ok though, none of the other CRA's get this right either, to varying degrees. Unitl we demand this in large numbers, I don't think they will pay any attention. It doesn't help that we can't really show damages for their failure to disclose ALL data in our files. Even a class action may prove meaningless.

Then again, I'm NOT a lawyer, and all it takes is one motivated attorney who thinks he/she can win.

I have both reports. Below is the info for the same acct. taken from both reports. The 1st is the consumer disclosure, the 2nd is the one businesses see. They are identical and, there is a date paid off on both. But that is only for closed accts that are positive. Looking at older reports with negatives, it gives a date closed, or a date placed with collections, but it does not give a date of last activity.

very bad..TU is looking to be my worst report..and it has things all over it with dates as of last month.
most of it are things that are over 7 years old, but If I cannot dispute the date of last activity..they will remain forever.
    :/

If items are over 7 years old and you can prove via other reports dola, then dispute them as obsolete.

Is most of it on your other 2 reports? If not, you can always try to call TU. They tend to be difficult, but maybe you'll have better luck than some!

Is it in this TransUnion document? If so, where?
