TU - I'm now in the Priority Dept

WTH does this mean? I just called TU regarding an unauthorized inquiry. The rep tells me that my file is being handled by the "Priority Dept." and she can not access one piece of information about it. I asked what that meant. She said it is a department that "does things a little quicker than the normal channels." The Priority dept will call me back within 24 hours. Well, I certainly haven't seen any priority action from this side. What does this mean, and why is my file segregated?

The only thing I can think of is that I sent them a demand letter to delete inquiries and threatened to sue them if they didn't. I got a form letter "we don't investigate inquiries, blah, blah, blah." I didn't sue them. The end. They also didn't investigate or delete any.

Because you threatened to sue them, you are now in Priority club. The priority dep't says anybody that has anything to do with the words legal, lawyer, lawsuit etc., are handles by priority. Now for something absolutely unbelievable. The company I work for has the word "attorney" in its name. They are not lawyers. But, because I work for a company with that word in its' name, I also am in the priority club. Unreal.

I'm in the priority club too (I have a law degree). It's a nice club, they actually do call you back within 24 hours, and they are most accomodating if you have a problem. THe only down side is that you can't call the regular number to launch a dispute anymore.

So what does this mean? I figured that is how I earned my elite status! Ha! Ha!

Will I forever be in the priority department? Do I ever get out? It is a pain in the butt because now I have to wait 24 hours to get an answer.

Seriously, do you feel that they are more adept at resolving a problem than the regular customer service line?

Does this also mean that I will, forever, be labeled as litigous? Maybe that's good, maybe that's bad. Who knows!

They will "EXPEDITE" the letter that says "WE STILL DON'T ALLOW YOU TO DISPUTE INQUIRES" letter...

"We don't care if you NEVER applied at that bank for anything ever...We don't care if you NEVER had any business with that credit card"

Really, feels good, Javan? Did you threaten to sue them too? After today's call, that threat needs to become a reality.

It took them almost exactly 24 hours to return my call. Then I got a rep who assured me that there was "no way possible for an inquiry to be made that did not have a permissible purpose." Yep, you read that right. According to her, TU's system is so highly advanced that it can sense the intention of the creditor requesting its data! When an illicit purpose exists, it denies the request. I laughed out loud when she said this. So now I am stuck with 3 unauthorized inquiries, a drop of 40 points in my TU score (for what that's worth), and a wealth of new knowledge on the workings of the world and TU's system. (She also informed me that my score drops each time I pull my own report too because I am, in essence, a creditor to myself.)

What did I do to deserve this?

Well, now that's a new one! I don't think there's any evidence of that - otherwise as someone who pulls their report most every day I'd see a lot more score fluctuation than I do. My TU score has been exactly the same for 2 months - and I've pulled it a few times. So, I think she's full of it.

Ozzy, I mostly posted that to show the ludicrous nature of that entire conversation. I don't believe for a second that she had any idea what she was talking about. Give me a break, no inquiry can be made if there is no permissible purpose? How in the heck could they possibly administer that? There is absolutely no way. I was INCREDIBLY disappointed with my new "priority status."
