For the past 5 months my Hard Inquiries on my TU report are dropping off once they reach 3 months old! I have never disputed any inquiries with TU. Four have dropped off after 3 months and I have one to go. Don't get me wrong, this is great but can anyone tell me why this is happening? Is it because I was using those hard inquiries to get free reports every other day online?

What do you mean by "using hard inquiries to check score"?

He problably means to get a free report from transunion.com

You have a option to get a free report if you can name the date a company denied you for credit.

Actually I check mine just about every day and just make up a company name. Doesn't everybody do that?

You definitely don't have to apply every time to lok at the report.

Tried that once, they locked me out. I haven't been able to get a online report ever since.

The lockout is for 30 days. I had to wait as well but I was able to view it.

Its a procedure I learned from this board. Say for instance I applied for a Citi card , Chase card, etc. and they all pull TU. I just use one of those companies (CITI) and check the box that states I was denied credit even though I wasn't, put in the proper date the report was pulled, and you get a free report. I have pulled my TU report 50 times since October using this method. I was just wondering since I pull the report so many times for free are they deleting my inquiries so I have none left to use to get a free report. Obviously the system does not know if you were denied or not when you choose the company who pulled the hard inquiry. At one time you could do the same procedure and get an EX report for free but now I think you can't. You have to keep disputes going, go into " create an investigation"dispute and pull a new report that way. I've pulled 40 EX's for free using AMEX everytime even though i have an account with them and was never denied.

Tommy, you can still do that with Experian (or, at least, I can) but you cannot do it repeatedly with Equifax. Once you get the report for free one time - it locks you out until you generate another hard inquiry.

I don't make up company names, but I do use the names of a company that denied me credit repeatedly for both TU and Experian.

It has to be within 60 days, though...
