I have deleted about 6 out of 16 inquiries on TU. I did it online and it didn't work. Then I wrote a very strong letter, attached my online dispute, and they deleted 3 of the oldest ones. So, I repeated the process again. They deleted 3 more of the oldest ones. Is there some method here? I keep trying to figure out their cut off. Will they only delete X number of them at a time? WIll they only delete the ones that would have dropped off automatically in 90 days or less? Does anyone know how this works?
I sent in a couple of strongly worded disputes and they actually deleted ALL of my inquiries. Over 35 of them. I bought two houses, did a refinance, and bought a new car in the last two years so there was a lot of activity. One day I looked and they were ALL gone.
Wolverine, how did you handle the dispute--was it a letter, online, what? Did they delete them all at once or several at a time?
I'd be highly interested in what those strongly worded disputes are. Could you post it up here? Otherwise, email me with it. Thanks!
I just tweaked the form letter from the credit net library. I signed it: Wolverine, Esq. Attorney at Law I made a couple of references to my experiences with the FCRA. Honestly, I think my status as an attorney got the job done. I haven't practiced law in years, but the degree still counts for something. As a matter of fact I called them on something last week and when the CSR saw my report, she said Uh-oh you're a lawyer aren't you, I have to transfer you over to another department. Lisa, THe inquiries all came off in one day, poof.
I wonder what the magic word was in that letter you sent? Maybe it was strictly the implication that you were sending it as an attorney. The letter that I sent that got three deleted quoted several things in the FCRA, so I don't know. If you can think of any point that you feel may have pushed that over the edge, please let me know! Thanks! Lisa
I sent three of four CRRR on the same day regarding inquiries. I think they figured they didn't want a pi**ed off lawyer bugging them all the time so they just got rid of everything. They deleted over 30 inquiries that I never even asked about.
Do you have a basic copy of the letter you wrote. Sounds like you could write a well-worded letter far better than I could. Any help is appreciated.
I was told to never dispute inquiries that resulted in an open account. Someone once posted that when he disputed, he got a phone call from his CC company asking what the deal was. If I'm wrong then I'm firing off some inquiry disputes today... GT
Here you go. There really isn't much on here that I didn't poach from the library here. Transunion P.O. Thanks wolverine! I'll try it out? Should I put attorney at law or just my name? Would the "attorney at law" actually help me get rid of it more easily?
HE-E-E-L-L-O-O-O!!! I disputed inquires on my TU report and THIS is the response I got! MARCH 18, 2002 DEAR CONSUMER: THANK YOU FOR YOUR RECENT CORRESPONDENCE REGARDING INQUIRIES. UNDER LAW, WE ARE REQUIRED TO KEEP A RECORD OF INQUIRIES FOR A MINIMUM OF TWO (2) YEARS IF RELATED TO EMPLOYMENT AND FOR SIX (6) MONTHS IF NOT EMPLOYMENT RELATED. IT IS TRANS UNION'S POLICY TO KEEP A RECORD OF ALL INQUIRIES FOR A PERIOD OF TWO (2) YEARS. INQUIRIES CAN ONLY BE RECORDED ON A CREDIT REPORT WHEN AN INQUIRY IS IN FACT MADE. (DUH-H-H!!) CONSUMER DISCLOSURE INQUIRIES ARE NOT DISPLAYED TO ANYONE INQUIRING ON THE CREDIT FILE; THEY CAN ONLY BE VIEWED BY YOU AND TRANS UNION. A COMPANY WHICH INQUIRES ON YOUR REPORT DOES NOT HAVE TO OBTAIN WRITTEN AUTHORIZATION FROM YOU IN ORDER TO PULL A COPY OF YOUR CREDIT FILE, BUT ONLY HAVE A PERMISSIBLE PURPOSE AS OUTLINED IN THE FAIR CREDIT REPORTING ACT SECTION 604. IF YOU FEEL THAT THE COMPANY WHO INQUIRED INTO YOUR CREDIT FILE DID NOT HAVE A PERMISSIBLE PURPOSE AS STATED IN THE FAIR CREDIT REPORTING ACT, YOU MAY WISH TO CONTACT THEM DIRECTLY CONCERNING THEIR REASON FOR ACCESSING YOUR FILE. IF THEY FIND THEIR INQUIRY IS INCORRECT, THEY MAY PROVIDE US WITH WRITTEN AUTHORIZATION REQUESTING THE REMOVAL OF THEIR INQUIRY. PLEASE INCLUDE FILE# FROM THE UPPER BLAH BLAH BLAH ON ALL FUTURE CORRESPONDENCE WITH TRANS UNION. ****************** I called TU and they said that they don't accept disputes on inquiries. I said that if it affects my credit score in any way, they sure will! They said that is their company policy not to remove inquiries! WHATEVER!!!! SUGGESTIONS ANYONE????!! I'M TICKED!!
Rina, I'm not the only one who has lied in my life. It's as if you imply I'm the only one who does things of the such. I am not going to put attorney at law on there, ok, does that make you happy?
Thanks wolverine! I'll try it out? Should I put attorney at law or just my name? Would the "attorney at law" actually help me get rid of it more easily? I'm still an officer of the court so I certainly wouldn't suggest that, but.... You might want to be careful on this. I'm guessing 61184 is your bd, and I've noticed you had some earlier posts referencing your minor status, so they might question how a teenager got a law degree. Keller, Press on, I got the exact same letter about a week before the inquiries came off. Keep sending the disputes.
Ok, thanks wolverine. I definitely won't do that. It was stupid of me to even consider doing such a thing. I will just edit out any of the information on there pertaining to being a lawyer. Thanks for your help.
Wolverine, thanks, I WILL keep sending those disputes. I bet yours came off a lot easier than mine will, though. LOL
CRA'S HAVE A VERY LIMITED ATTENTION SPAN!!! IF YOU DO MORE THAN 3-4 THEY WILL QUIT AFTER 3 OR 4!!! It is also possible that they MUST empty their "IN" basket before the end of the week...so they limit the number of "THINGS" they do per person so they will empty that basket before FRIDAY...1/2 A JOB IS BETTER THAN NONE??? I have been "WORKING" on mine for MANY YEARS...and I have NO NEGATIVES!!! ALL I WANT IS 100% PERFECT!!!
