Hello members I need major help....I have a dear friend whom I have helped dispute items on their report....well the certified/return receipt letter was signed on 9/12/02 and the printed updated copy of the report was printed on 9/24/02....now how in the hell did TU investigate these items with in 12 days? Something is fishy here. Please any one that has ever had this problem before, point me in the right direction. I am not sure which letter to send at this point....I am soooo pissed, because I know they did not do there job....Equifax sent there report back within 20 days......what is going on here? Help...Help...Help......Please!!

Procedural request, I'd guess. And maybe:

"I received your notification that you had allegedly investigated the information I recently disputed on my report. Your allegation that you verified the information, thereby concluding your investigation within 12 days is highly suspect. I can only deduce from your rapid response that your investigation was either 1) never performed, 2) performed without a reasonable measure of accuracy or thoroughness in regard to my contention of the incorrect information or 3) prematurely concluded by means of clerical error. I am willing to give the benefit of doubt to your organization and accept that the cause for conclusion of the investigation may have been the latter (#3).

Therefore, I am reiterating my previous claim that you are reporting informatin that is erroneous, either in whole or in part, and demanding a new investigation of this information. I will not supply any further information to you beyond the fact that the information which you hold out for others to see and claim to be accurate, is, in fact, not 100% accurate.
The FCRA, by which you are bound, states:
    (b) Accuracy of report. Whenever a consumer reporting agency prepares a consumer report it shall follow reasonable procedures to assure maximum possible accuracy of the information concerning the individual about whom the report relates.

Your uncharacteristically rapid investigation leaves me no alternative but to conclude that you have not followed reasonable procedures to assure maximum possible accuracy of the information."

I wouldn't believe Any CRA could verify in 12 days...

I guess I lucked out, I sent my first round of disputes and I disputed EVERYTHING (I know most here would say that you should never do this though) which consisted of about 23 derogs w/TU. They sent my first corrected report. Half were deleted, the other half they did not even investigate, so all that they investigated were deleted. Second letter short and sweet, 4 sentences consisted of you did not investigate the other xx accts, next I will be calling my attorney, next I recieved a new credit report absolutely clean, within 3 weeks

basically (I do not have copies b/c this was before I was enlightened to the fact that you had to cover your a**, as a matter of fact, I sent it regular mail, no crrr so I really did luck out) but I do have to say this, though most accts. were mine I really did have someone else's report mixed with mine, but my letter basically said, 'I sent you one letter already explaining the fact that someone else's report has been merged w/mine, though I appreciate the accts. that you have already deleted you did not investigate the others. Delete all accts. If this matter is not handled immediately I will be contacting my attorney. Your time and attention into this matter is appreciated.'

I just had Experian investigate 2 of my accounts in less than 12 hours, now tell me how they did that. I disputed them this morning and I already got a investigation update and both now remain and updated as verified 10/2002, puke on them.

Were the verified account(s) collections accounts owned by Credit Bureau Services _________?

I did some investigation on my local credit bureau services.

    They are a collection agency/mortgage lender/TU affiliate/BIG community giver.

In fact later this month I am going to a home owner seminar that helps you with the down payment for every $1 I contribute to a savings acct. the sponsers contribute $3, well CBSofNH is a sponser as well as the mortgage provider. These are the SAME jerks that are trying to collect on that bogus dental bill.

They also owned an account of hubbys, for MONTHS we were going thru validation letter/estoppel's/BBB complaints etc. They gave BOGUS reponses. So finally we sent all the CRAP we got from them to TU (only report they report to) and within 5 or 10 days TU had "verified" AND came up with the full acct. history/signed app. EVERYTHING!!!!

So be warned and be leery!!

This is really horrible!! Who were the creditors? I'd love to know if these things get routed to the creditors electronically or are "investigated" in-house.

    Great points gang,

The problem comes in when you consider what type of dispute you're talking about.

Disputing as "not mine" this is the easiest to verify.

All they do is pick up a phone, call and say is this debt under the name of XXXXX, with an SSN of XXXXXX.

    Boom, it's verified.

That's why I'd be very carefull with the "not mine" dispute.

    Hi Butch,

I see what you mean about the "not mine" dispute. It is easy for them to verify, but if the account is a charge off what other reason should we use?
