I am so angry! I did an online dispute w/ TU on 9/13...today I get a letter in the mail from TU saying that "the information you disputed does not currently appear on your TransUnion credit report."
Well, I hoped maybe they had just deleted it so I went online today and got a new TU report. Guess what. Everything is still there! So should I wait a few days for their 30 day investigation period to be done then send them a letter demanding they delete? Should I include a copy of the report I pulled today that shows the items they claim "do not appear on my report"?

That is what I would do! EQF does that to me all the time. I send them a copy of their own report with the item circled and they say "it is not currently reporting." I don't get it. THeir clock has already started. Just my opinion! Good luck!

I pulled my wifes TU on line on 9/14/2002, We disputed about 4 items. I haven't heard anything back yet?

I assume you can re-pull the TU on line for free, once you receive the letter in the mail? (I did print a copy of the report)

And do you use creditexpert and creditwatch, the yearly paid services to get your EXP and EQU reports?

I would call TU and do a dispute over the phone. If they tell you over the phone that it isn't on your report, then you aren't seeing a "recent" report online. TU, for some reason, freezes there information. So, if you were disputing several items at one time, I think they wait for everything to comes back.

This has happened to me SEVERAL times. I will call and dispute something and they say, it isn't on your report. Then maybe a week later and I check my report, and it has been deleted.

I could be wrong about this, but just to put your mind at ease, I would call.

I called them on 9/10. I disputed one late pay TL and 17 inquiries! On 9/29, I pulled my report and EVERYTHING disputed was GONE!!! My TU report is now totally clean! Even though I didn't want them to delete the TL as it was just one late pay from 96 on an 8 year old closed account, but not much I can do about it now. Anyway...I would call them. They were very nice to me and took my disputes over the phone. They then deleted ALL in 19 days! :)

If they did delete the disputed items...why wouldn't they send me an updated report showing so? I'm just nervous about calling them...they still have a little over a week before the 30 day investigation period is up. I don't want to open up a can of worms!

I'm not sure who I spoke to, but it was just a regular CSR who answered the phone. She was very nice and I was EXTREMELY nice to her! Also, I'm not sure if this makes a difference, but I was confused (grin)!
    Something like this -

Me : Something is very wrong. I'm not sure what all this stuff is...can you help me?

CSR : Sure. Tell me what's wrong.

Me : I show this huge list of inquiries....what is it for? Why are there so many? Why would they pull my report? I don't even know who half these companies are.

CSR : No problem. Tell me which ones and I'll look into it for you.

Me : Thank you so much!

    mysti-summ,

You were VERY lucky, I like the strategy!!!

Normally they don't even want to discuss any thing that starts with I..n..,

When you try to get the word out, they cut you off!! We don't dispute those! :)

    Congrats to you though!

Bumpage has been VERY good to me, just had one from 8/25/02 leave.

    Velouria,

I would try the same strategy, act very distraught and tell them there is something on your report that is wrong. If it is still in dispute, they will tell you. If it isn't, they will place it in dispute.

They aren't as bad as Experian with disputes. Experian can get down right ugly if they think you have disputed the same account too many times.

Well ... as much as I hate to say this ...

It seems to me that if you really want your disputes to be taken seriously you must send it CRRR.

I think it indicates that you are aware of the papertrail aspect and they make fewer mistakes.

In this case I think they got you mixed up with someone else (upon whose CR your TL really doesn't appear) LOL.

Fire off a CRRR letter asap and tell them their 30 days is almost up.

Here's a secret when dealing with TU. If you do call them make them like you and you'll get changes right away.

Just judging by her name alone mysti_summ probably has a sweet disposition and a nice phone voice.

I tend to tear their heads off and SH1T down their necks.

    LOL

So if I call them and act painfully nice, what are my chances that they will delete these 3 items for me? :) I personally don't like to call CRA's/CA's...I like to have everything in writing. I have a copy of the online dispute I did, as well as their letter acknowledging they received my dispute but aren't reporting the info. It's not my fault they screwed up, so I don't want to give them a second chance to investigate!

If they show that it is still on the report, and they don't mention that it is being disputed, don't have them to dispute it.

If there is an outstanding dispute on your file, that is the first thing they normally say before asking you why you called.

Once you get your question answered, then you can follow up with a paper trail and nab them. :)
