I can't believe it. I called in today to check on the status of my dispute entered on 7/15 (anxious about mortgage credit report) and the rep said she couldn't find any record of my having disputed anything on that date. The account I had disputed was NOT in dispute, according to her. After explaining that it must be an error on their part, and asking if I could fax my printout, she gave me the fax for her supervisor. I am to call back tomorrow to see what happens. Anyone else have this happen to them? I guess I can no longer trust the online TU dispute system. Up until now I have had no real problems with TU...
Trans Union just plain sucks. Have you noticed how just recently when you make an online dispute with TU there is no date on the bottom of the print out confirmation like there used to be. Now there is no PROOF of the date you disputed. I thought that was pretty interesting. Kara
Really Kara? I haven't disputed anything since the 25th. You sure it's not a setting on your browser?
well I havent changed anything on my computer and when I look back at past disputes their is a date on the bottom and now my recent ones don't have a date. Maybe it's just me. Kara
Oh, that sucks. I think that if you do an online dispute you should maybe follow up at least with a phone call confirming it.
Just an update on this. I haven't called to confirm, but I pulled a report today and the forclosure was gone. Yay! I had to fax the pages again, because their stupid fax machine didn't get the bottom of my pages. I ended up faxing to both the CA and PA call centers. What a relief though to know someone there has enough sense to see that I really did dispute on the 15th, even if their system didn't get it filed. Now TU is back to being the easiest CRA for me to deal with...
I disputed 2 items online on july 20. A week later one was deleted. I called last week about the other and they told me I had called and ended the dispute. I said no way. I called the next day and they told me I never disputed online so I emailed them the printout proof. I called the day after that and I was told the computer must not have accepted the dispute and I had to start over. I think not. I faxed an intent to sue letter last week which they have ignored. On august 20th I will call and give them a choice- either change the info to positive or I will be at the courthouse in 30 minutes to file. Oh, and I never bluff(well almost never but I have them nailed to the floor on this).
My concern over this is that there is nothing embedded in the page to prove a date. The only date on that page is generated by your computer when it is printed, and thus subject to manipulation. Unless you are getting confirmation via email that I have not ever gotten. I think it would be a hard thing to prove in court, that you actually did originate the dispute on a given date. Usually it is the accusing party that must bear the burden of proof. Since both sides will claim the opposite, the CRA will prevail. In my situation, I have printouts of almost every dispute and could probably force them to show that each time a dispute was entered into their system on the very same day. I could easily show that I have been consistent, while they have not. It could be reasonably argued that I would not create a single false printout if I have five other legitimate ones. Well, in theory at least, I didn't have to prove it...
