I've always had good credit... but because of this board, a thought I'd better check my reports. None of the 3 reports had derogatory information or misinformation, but they had minor details incorrect such as date of account closed, some accounts that were closed and positive were not closed on the report.

So anyway, I went to check my score there today after disputing the small information and my score had gone upto 861 from the mid 700's.

Can just these slight corrections affect my score that much? I'm not complaining, just surprised.

I'll start by saying congrats on that great score! I don't mean to be a downer, but I don't think you can put much faith into the TU online score. For me at least, (and a few others) it has proven to be way off the mark. As I have said before, they put out this score just to satisy the consumer. But, even if it is way off, and it has been both too high and too low, your score most likely still would be in the 800's. And that is something to be proud of!

As far as why it jumped so much, I have no idea. I would think if you had closed accts. showing as open, and then had them report them as closed, your % credit used would increase and thus lower your score. I don't get the TU system.

Thanks for your comments... I realize its a propietary scoring system (just like FICO is too).. but I had the same thought that you did. If anything I thought my score would go down because % utilization would go up.

I wish the whole credit worthiness system was more objective.
