When we were car shopping last weekend, I had the opportunity to look at my cr's (the one creditors see). On TU there was a notation about some special handling department. What does this mean?

This note came up on my report AND hubby's report.
What's up with that? Oh, also had "hawk alert" hee hee. I know this one was from inqs.

Made any legal threats lately to TU? I have heard of people getting bumped into the TU special handling dept. if they have threatend or filed suit against TU.

I am sure that is not the only reason, but very common. From what I understand, it is the special handling dept. that handles your disputes.

Seems like being in the special handling dept. can be a good or bad thing depending on your circumstances. The more legitimate a negative account is you dispute, the more likely it will come back verified. Of course, incorrect accounts are likely to be updated or deleted.

SPECIAL HANDLING...because you have the AUDACITY to want 100% ACCURATE!!!

TRANS UNION DEMANDS 40-80% ACCURATE...ISN'T THAT GOOD ENOUGH FOR YOU???

    :)

I am on their special list, but they call it "Priority Disputes" for me, or something close to that.

I write letters to the same person every time, I never really deal with the main TU phones anymore...kinda nice. I guess that I am on their for LIFE (or the life of TU, whichever lasts longer, LOL).

Uh, yeah, lol...I did threaten to sue (havent changed my mind, either)...they deleted the info and now it has mysteriously reappeared after being deleted for 2 whole days. Waiting for the rest of my disputes to come back before going forward again...just had 5 things reappear after a couple months of being gone.

I think in my case it is a bad thing...$hit keeps getting verified and reapperaing without notice of reinsertion. Their claim is "we didnt reinsert...the creditors jus re-reported"

Gotta love it...at least they should OFFER to buy dinner first, ya know?

If TU doesn't straighten up they are gonna eventually get sued out of existance or either the FTC will step in and open up a can of whoop arse on TU. (Hey I can dream can't I?)

Don't let these bastards get away with "we didn't reinsert" BS..
yeah, the OC re-reported - and then the CRA inserted it back into your file! they cant' do this w/o certification from creditor that the info correct and accurate. not quite sure what entails "certification", though - I'm sure there's some folks around here that could enlighten us on that though. Also, FCRA says the CRA must have procedures in place to keep this from happeneing. It also says the "furnisher of information" has to complete thier investigation w/in the CRA's 30 day timeline.
just my take on the FCRA....

    You know what's funny (?!@?)

I got my updated report yesterday...

    My FAKO dumped 200 points!

I read the items that were "re-reported", lol and it is old stuff from 99. The kicker is...

The 2 charge off dates are now updated to "charged off in 2/03,
2 collections updated as "included in bk" (didnt file, ex did) as of 10/02. They are for the same thing held by 2 different CA's

So, essentially if you look a my report, it looks like I just NOW had this stuff happen...hence the whopping 200 point loss. I tell ya...

All of the stuff that was re-reported looks like its totally new stuff. Not sure what to do next...

    1) send them copies of my old report (before these were deleted) and say "HEY, wtf"

    2) file suit for false reporting/update of old chargeoff dates

    3) Set my hair on fire and run screaming into the night

    Any suggestions? Thank y'all
