This is my 2nd pst (maybe 3rd) here, and I hope I get some help this time I've been reading feverishly for months now and trying to be more informed, so maybe this post will be more specific than my first newbie questions. I filed Ch 7 in feb 2001. Trying to clean things up and be patient. I have successfully disputed a few negs off, but no significant score improvement. My latest "project" has been a Household/Beneficial loan account (inc. in the ch 7) that was reporting 3 different ways on the 3 diff crs. Only one had ch 7, one had ch 13, and the other had it open and past due; one also had the TL listed twice with different status and different account #s. I disputed with all 3 with CRAs, got the usual "verified" (yeah, right) then sent a letter to OC saying "this is what TU says (the ch 13), this is what Ef says (the double listing), it can't all be right, fix it." They replied that the original acct was re-financed and the two entries were correct and they had no record of bk. I had just pulled reports from fico.com with the $9.95 promo code a week or so earlier (before receiving the letter back from OC). Eqf had one account inc in ch 7, no account number, and the "refi" account open, bal $138, pd as agreed but 1 30 day late 4/03; EXP has the tl twice--once as negative-- the account open, 120 days past due, bal $5xx; once okay, transfered or refi but not listed under "neg accounts"--same account # on both. TU has CH 7 bk (changed from the old ch 13). All have the same original amount. After I got the letter, I was reluctant to spend bucks for new CRs so soon. PG $1 deal had just expired and I had cancelled. So I pulled worthknowing and TU as of 9/2003 was reporting NO BK, just one TL, OPEN, 120+ past due! I fired off a mean letter to OC stating thanks for your reply, but you are still reporting incorrectly, quoted the TU TL, and said "this acount is closed, has a 0 balance and is not past due" (did not mention bk). At the same time, I disputed the TL again on line with TU (I know, I was being extrememly impatient and just wanted to "do" something...at least I refrained from spending money on new CRs, thinking I'd wait for my green card Today I get a letter (by the way, still haven't got the green card!) from TU asking copies of my bk discharge and list of creditors. Now, I KNOW better than to send the requested docs, but I wonder if I should bother to write TU and say "I know this is not my job to verify your TLs--contact OC!" or just let it sit. By the way, the TU letter does not specifically refer to my dispute of the HH account, though it says "than you for contacting..." and has a file number, so I assume it is in response since I haven't made any other contact. I have not kept pristine records in this process with an intent to sue, btw, though I am beginning to think that is the only way to truly clean things up--threated to sue. I asked HH to delete, and since I haven't gotten the green card back, I'm thinking I'll just try to be patient until I do and then order the CRs and dispute with all 3 CBs again, and maybe at that time say something to TU about the previous dispute not being answered as required in 30 days, just ignoring this letter requesting bk info? opinions please? sorry so long...I can't seem to help myself. In fact, now that I finally got the question out so you can stop reading if you want, I have a couple of observations/ponderings...why did TU change from ch 13 (on wk & pg) to ch 7 (my.fico) then to no bk (wk)? and why is TU asking for bk info ? Seems like more indication of lots of unseen stuff in our files that don't show up or show up sporadically on reports.... If I don't get any advice, I think I'll just try to wait for the green card, then pay for reports and re-dispute to all 3. I'll report back and post how it goes. side question, can you get the $1 pg offer more than once? thanks all for reading this far !!!
I promised feedback... OC writes "we have send Universal Data forms to the credit reporting agencies to update XXXXXXXXxxxxxx as paid in ful and closed, with a 30 day late in June of 2001. We have removed all other delinquencies. When you paid off the account, you left a small balance thet became severely past due. We re-posted your last payment and waived the remaining balance so that your account would be paid in full." Total BS, but I'll take it, if the CRAs truly get updated. I'll be ordering soon and will let you know. By the way, I requested in both letters to OC to be copied on any correspondence with CRAs...totally ignored. hth
